The venue in Mendrisio (TI), Switzerland provided an engaging backdrop as participants tackled 18 rounds of competition across seven distinct events. With tables arranged for rapid turnarounds and focused solving, the Swiss hall buzzed with energy throughout both days of action. The high-spirited gathering showcased a balanced mix of top-tier speed, technical puzzle mastery, and personal breakthroughs in the 2025 season.

The premier 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube division delivered exceptional quality in the final round. Chenlai Zhao claimed top honours on the podium with a decisive winning average of 6.88 seconds, alongside the weekend's best single solve of 6.13 seconds in the event. Daniel Sartori took second place with a 7.57 average, while Damiano Albini earned third place with an 8.37 mark. Fans tracking the 3x3 results witnessed 39 competitors test their skill across three rounds of classic speedcubing inside the Mendrisio venue.

The 4x4x4 Cube competition saw Daniel Sartori reverse the order at the top of the standings. Sartori captured first place with an impressive 26.40 average, anchored by a best single solve of 25.47 seconds across three rounds featuring 30 competitors. Chenlai Zhao secured the second position with an average of 30.97 seconds, and Tobias Peter rounded out the podium in third place with a 34.94 average. The contest showed the demanding depth of four-layered speed cubing on the main stage.

Short-format puzzles produced some of the fastest sequences of LaFilanda Speedcubing 2025. In the 2x2x2 Cube, Christian Crea topped a 40-competitor field over three rounds with a winning average of 1.86 seconds and a best single of 1.57 seconds. Fabian Tomasović finished in second place with a 2.26 average, followed by Ismaele Chiarella in third at 2.48. In the Pyraminx event, Ismaele Chiarella stepped onto the top step with a 2.52 winning average and a 1.97 single, edging out Davide Arnesano at 2.64 and Giosuele Chiarella at 3.09.

Beyond the podium battles, the weekend provided meaningful milestones away from the spotlight. Bruno Pontesilli took on five events, earning an 18th place finish in Skewb while posting his first ever attempts in Skewb at 7.67, Pyraminx at 10.36, and Clock at 43.56. Mattia Gabriel Iannone tackled all seven events, achieving a best finish of 13th in the 2x2x2 Cube, recording a first Megaminx solve of 3:03.16, and setting big personal bests in Pyraminx at 5.34 (50.5 percent faster) and Skewb at 5.83 (31.5 percent faster). Alexander Klimtcov registered a first 4x4x4 Cube mark of 1:45.61, cutting his 2x2x2 personal best to 4.18 (40.2 percent faster) and his 3x3x3 mark to 19.71 (27 percent faster). Anna Tommasi took 14th in the 3x3x3 Cube, logged a first Megaminx mark of 2:01.51, and dropped personal bests in Skewb to 6.08 and 3x3x3 to 10.95.

The depth of progress continued across multiple delegations at the tournament. Germans Cvetkovs contested four events, logging a first Megaminx attempt of 3:13.05 alongside personal bests of 4.49 in the 2x2x2 Cube (23.5 percent faster) and 19.67 in the 3x3x3 Cube (22.7 percent faster). Maël Jost placed 20th in Skewb while improving his 4x4x4 Cube personal best to 1:36.61 (33.4 percent faster) and his Skewb mark to 5.17 (18.7 percent faster). Luca Rannisi notched an 18th place finish in Pyraminx and cut his 2x2x2 Cube personal best down to 8.23, an improvement of 36 percent. Daniel Dino Biondi achieved a 19th place finish in Skewb while trimming his personal bests to 8.55 in Pyraminx (31.9 percent faster) and 6.63 in Skewb (23.4 percent faster).

Speciality categories also took centre stage inside the LaFilanda venue. Flurin König won the Clock event across three rounds with a 4.51 average and a 4.07 single, finishing ahead of Davide Arnesano at 4.97 and Lorenzo Calogero Buscemi at 5.65. In Megaminx, Alessandro Fava took victory over 24 competitors with a 42.20 average and a best single of 37.98 seconds, with Ismaele Chiarella at 45.47 and Davide Arnesano at 48.72 completing the podium. Skewb was claimed by Mirko Guglielmin in 3.09 seconds average, ahead of Rocco Rannisi at 3.25 and Ceo Bernardelle at 3.62.

The overall medal count reflected a dominant showing by Italian competitors, who collected 15 podium positions, while Swiss contenders earned four and Chinese participants secured two. As a sanctioned WCA competition, the meeting brought together international talents and local enthusiasts in a collaborative environment. With 18 completed rounds across the schedule, this successful cubing competition in Mendrisio demonstrated the enduring charm and vitality of competitive puzzle solving at the venue.

An den Tischen im Kulturzentrum LaFilanda herrschte am 22. und 23. November 2025 konzentrierte Betriebsamkeit. Stoppuhren klickten, Hände bewegten sich in rasanter Präzision über bunte Kunststoffflächen und das rhythmische Klappern der Drehungen erfüllte den Saal in Mendrisio (TI), Switzerland. Insgesamt 47 Teilnehmende waren angereist, um bei LaFilanda Speedcubing 2025 in sieben verschiedenen Disziplinen anzutreten. Bei dieser WCA competition standen 18 Runden auf dem Zeitplan, bei denen erfahrene Athleten sowie viele junge Talente ihr Können unter Beweis stellten.

Der klassische 3x3x3 Cube, der weltweit als Zauberwürfel bekannt ist, zog 39 Starter an und bot drei spannende Runden. Im Finale sicherte sich Chenlai Zhao aus China mit einem hervorragenden Finaldurchschnitt von 6.88 Sekunden den Sieg, nachdem er im Verlauf der Runden eine beste Einzelleistung von 6.13 Sekunden erzielt hatte. Auf den weiteren Plätzen folgten Daniel Sartori aus Italien mit einem Schnitt von 7.57 Sekunden und der Schweizer Damiano Albini mit 8.37 Sekunden, womit das Podium hochkarätig besetzt war.

Daniel Sartori schlug im 4x4x4 Cube erfolgreich zurück. Mit einem dominanten Durchschnitt von 26.40 Sekunden und dem besten Einzelsolve von 25.47 Sekunden entschied der Italiener den Wettkampf für sich. Chenlai Zhao belegte den zweiten Rang mit 30.97 Sekunden im Schnitt, während sich Tobias Peter aus der Schweiz mit einem Rundenschnitt von 34.94 Sekunden die Bronzemedaille bei diesem Event sicherte, das insgesamt 30 Teilnehmer zählte.

Im rasanten 2x2x2 Cube traten 40 Teilnehmer gegeneinander an, und die Entscheidungen fielen im Bruchteil von Sekunden. Christian Crea aus Italien dominierte das Finale mit einem Gewinnerschnitt von 1.86 Sekunden und einer Bestzeit von 1.57 Sekunden. Hinter ihm sicherten sich Fabian Tomasović mit einem Schnitt von 2.26 Sekunden und Ismaele Chiarella mit 2.48 Sekunden die Plätze zwei und drei. Damit ging das gesamte Podium dieser Disziplin an Starter aus Italien.

Ismaele Chiarella zeigte auch in weiteren Disziplinen eine außergewöhnliche Form. Im Pyraminx siegte er mit einem Durchschnitt von 2.52 Sekunden und einem Einzelsolve von 1.97 Sekunden vor Davide Arnesano mit 2.64 Sekunden und Giosuele Chiarella mit 3.09 Sekunden. Im anspruchsvollen Megaminx setzte sich Alessandro Fava mit einem Schnitt von 42.20 Sekunden an die Spitze, gefolgt von Ismaele Chiarella mit 45.47 Sekunden und Davide Arnesano mit 48.72 Sekunden, was die italienische Dominanz auf dem Podium weiter unterstrich.

Abseits der Podestplätze gab es bei diesem Speedcubing Event bemerkenswerte Leistungssprünge bei jenen, die noch am Anfang ihrer Laufbahn stehen. Adriano Pallares trat in fünf Disziplinen an, erreichte Platz 11 im 4x4x4 Cube mit einer Bestzeit von 39.71 Sekunden und steigerte seine persönliche Bestleistung im 2x2x2 Cube auf 2.44 Sekunden, was 17.8 Prozent schneller war als zuvor, sowie im Clock auf 7.47 Sekunden. Teseo Rizzo absolvierte alle sieben Disziplinen, schloss den Skewb auf Rang 14 ab und verbesserte sich im Megaminx um 17.4 Prozent auf 1:56.45 Minuten, im Clock um 15 Prozent auf 8.24 Sekunden und im 3x3x3 Cube auf 15.16 Sekunden. Silas Brunner ging in fünf Disziplinen an den Start und schraubte seine persönliche Pyraminx-Bestzeit um 15.3 Prozent auf 8.03 Sekunden herunter, während Matteo Bossi seine Bestzeit im 3x3x3 Cube um 13.2 Prozent auf 17.25 Sekunden verbesserte.

Besonders eindrucksvoll war der Auftritt der Neulinge, für die LaFilanda Speedcubing 2025 die allererste WCA-Turnierteilnahme war. Milan Hütte wagte sich an fünf Disziplinen und lieferte erste offizielle Versuche von 8.33 Sekunden im 2x2x2 Cube, 13.50 Sekunden im Pyraminx und 30.14 Sekunden im 3x3x3 Cube ab. João Vogt Cerri meisterte zwei Disziplinen mit 11.08 Sekunden im 2x2x2 Cube und 28.38 Sekunden im 3x3x3 Cube. Robert Zilvestr überzeugte bei seinem Debüt mit 3.89 Sekunden im 2x2x2 Cube und 17.62 Sekunden im 3x3x3 Cube, während Gabriel Goncalves mit 5.90 Sekunden im 2x2x2 Cube sowie 22.86 Sekunden im 3x3x3 Cube erste offizielle Zeiten setzte.

Auch bei den alternativen Drehpuzzles gab es Heimerfolge für die Schweizer Delegation. Im Clock sicherte sich Flurin König den Titel mit einem Schnitt von 4.51 Sekunden vor Davide Arnesano mit 4.97 Sekunden und Lorenzo Calogero Buscemi mit 5.65 Sekunden. Den Wettbewerb im Skewb entschied Mirko Guglielmin mit einem Schnitt von 3.09 Sekunden für die Schweiz, während die Italiener Rocco Rannisi mit 3.25 Sekunden und Ceo Bernardelle mit 3.62 Sekunden auf den Plätzen zwei und drei folgten.

Mit 15 Podestplätzen für Italien, vier für die Schweiz und zwei für China bot LaFilanda Speedcubing 2025 ein facettenreiches Kräftemessen im Tessin. Das Zusammenspiel aus arrivierten Spitzenkräften und aufstrebenden Talenten zeigte eindrucksvoll, wie schnell sich die Szene weiterentwickelt. Das erfolgreiche Wochenende in Mendrisio bildete einen würdigen Schlusspunkt für diese Cubing Competition im Jahr 2025 und setzt hohe Maßstäbe für die kommende Saison.
