Dreijers Dominates the Podiums at Kuldīgas Pavasaris 2025 Across 14 EventsEnglish

Twenty-five rounds across fourteen official disciplines greeted the twenty-one competitors who gathered in Kuldīga, Latvia on March 29 and 30, 2025. Hosted at Viļa Plūdoņa Kuldīgas vidusskola, the packed two-day schedule delivered a championship atmosphere where every second counted toward critical podium places. Speedcubing athletes from across the region faced an intense endurance test that spanned from quick twisting sprints to the deepest tactical challenges the World Cube Association schedule has to offer.

Roberts Dreijers set the standard for the entire weekend by capturing top honors in eight distinct events. The primary showcase of the classic Rubik's Cube concluded with Dreijers capturing the 3x3x3 Cube crown with a winning average of 8.98 seconds, backed by a best single of 8.56. Aleksejs Oglobļins claimed the second step on the podium with a 10.03 average, while Markuss Pietkuns completed the top three with a mark of 10.11 in the three-round event.

The 3x3 results formed only the beginning of a relentless performance from Dreijers throughout the weekend. In the 2x2x2 Cube, Dreijers secured victory across three rounds with a 2.16 final average and a 1.81 single. He translated that control directly into the larger cubes, winning the 4x4x4 Cube in 36.20 seconds, the 5x5x5 Cube with a 1:11.51 average, the 6x6x6 Cube in 2:16.21, and the 7x7x7 Cube with a commanding 3:15.12 winning mark.

The specialized formats tested individual versatility across two grueling days of competition. Dreijers collected two additional titles by winning the 3x3x3 One-Handed final with an 18.08 average and taking the Square-1 event with an 11.19 average. He added another title in Skewb with a 4.15 average, holding off Markuss Pietkuns who finished runner-up at 4.25 and Kristiāns Pietkuns in third at 5.80.

Behind the fight for the hardware, several competitors recorded major milestones that defined their individual progress on the official stage. Jans Jēkabs Prīliņš generated one of the sharpest improvements of the weekend, carving 53.2 percent off his previous Skewb best down to 9.58 seconds, while setting a new 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 18.45 and attempting the 4x4x4 Cube for the first time in 1:35.23. Gustavs Rudzitis lowered his 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 29.5 percent to 2.96, while also logging first-time attempts in Skewb with a 6.47 and Square-1 with a 35.17 on the way to a sixth-place finish. Amēlija Barone trimmed 30.5 percent from her 2x2x2 Cube mark down to 5.60 and tackled her first Skewb attempt with a 9.24.

That same commitment to expanding horizons ran through the rest of the field during this memorable speed cubing meeting. Madars Šnore tackled his first Clock attempt in 30.87 seconds and his first Skewb attempt in 10.46 while dropping his 3x3x3 Cube best by 15.3 percent to 26.94. Gints Mazurs established a new Clock mark on his first attempt in 15.49, improved his 3x3x3 Cube standard by 14.3 percent to 15.72, and sliced 14 percent off his 6x6x6 Cube mark down to 6:07.28. Matīss Dambītis lowered his 3x3x3 Cube personal record by 12.1 percent to 20.62 across three events. Artūrs Jakovļevs took on eight events, securing ninth in Megaminx while recording first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 41.12, 5x5x5 Cube at 3:30.25, and Pyraminx at 11.47. Raivo Rodrigo Heidemanis contested seven events, earning tenth in 5x5x5 Cube after logging initial tries at 5x5x5 Cube, Skewb, and 3x3x3 One-Handed.

Other podium contenders carved out victories across the specialty puzzles. Viltė Klioštoraitytė secured two titles for Lithuania, capturing the Clock competition with an average of 7.19 seconds and the Megaminx with a 51.57 average. In the Pyraminx, Markuss Pietkuns earned gold with a sharp winning average of 3.54 seconds and a single of 2.89.

Mental discipline proved decisive in the memory events, where competitors faced the blindfolded disciplines. Kasparas Lienys took top honors in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a winning single solve of 1:16.83, finishing ahead of Dreijers at 1:23.48 and Oglobļins at 1:32.99. In the 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event, Jānis Zirnis earned first place by successfully resolving 10 out of 13 cubes in a time of 56:58.

By the final stop of the timer, the cubing competition saw Latvian competitors collect thirty-eight podium places alongside four for Lithuania. Kuldīgas Pavasaris 2025 demonstrated the technical depth of the region across every format on the official calendar. With fourteen disciplines completed under high stakes, this WCA competition in Kuldīga provided a definitive benchmark as competitors prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.
