Schelin and Lindblom Deliver Blazing Sprints at Kublördag Landvetter IV: 2026English
A winning average of 1.78 seconds set a breathtaking benchmark for raw turning speed at Landvetter Kulturhus. That decisive mark came courtesy of Emanuel Schelin during the 2x2x2 Cube final, demonstrating the explosive pace that defined the single-day gathering. Across 13 total rounds of action, 44 competitors gathered in Landvetter, Sweden on June 27, 2026, to push their boundaries. Schelin commanded the shortest puzzles from the opening solves, pairing his 1.78 winning average with a rapid 1.15 single in the 2x2x2 to lead a podium flanked by Frank Lindblom in second with 2.28 and Pep Edén in third with 2.93.
The flagship event maintained the same electric standard as the classic Rubik's Cube drew 43 competitors across two rounds of play. In the final, Schelin captured victory once again, recording a 7.44 winning average alongside the round's best single of 5.81. The decisive 3x3 results solidified his dominance in the speed events, while the battle for the remaining steps proved exceptionally tight. Edén secured second place with an 8.16 average, narrowly eclipsing Lindblom, who took third place just a single hundredth of a second behind at 8.17.
Lindblom claimed his own piece of history during the Skewb event, putting together five blistering solves to set a Swedish national record average of 1.58 seconds. His effort included a best single of 1.28 seconds, securing a clear victory ahead of Edén, who averaged 2.31, and Schelin, who placed third with 2.92. The performance gave the speedcubing gathering in Landvetter a historic highlight, underscoring the world-class execution present at this WCA competition across multiple formats.
Schelin added three more victories to compile a five-gold showing across the weekend schedule. In the 4x4x4 Cube, he led the 26-player field with a winning average of 30.62 and a single of 26.26, finishing ahead of Edén at 32.23 and Herman Axelsson at 35.96. Schelin then showcased his versatility in 3x3x3 One-Handed, taking top honors with a 12.14 average and a best single of 10.90, over Lindblom at 13.16 and Edén at 17.30. He capped his marathon run in Megaminx, winning with a 47.59 average over Ruben Norén Gustafsson at 52.66 and Lindblom at 59.75.
Away from the podiums, the cubing competition provided plenty of remarkable breakthroughs as competitors took on heavy schedules and posted substantial drops in time. Specialty events tested distinct areas of calculation and dexterity throughout the day. Eskil Munthe claimed top honors in Pyraminx, averaging 3.42 seconds with a 2.19 single to beat Lindblom at 3.70 and Lage Bonde at 3.88. Munthe followed that up by mastering the mental challenge of 3x3x3 Blindfolded, where competitors must fully commit the cube layout to memory before donning a blindfold to execute the solve.
