Galler Doubles Up as Fast Progress Defines Kőbánya Advent 2023English

Ábris Galler set the benchmark in Budapest with a standout double victory, claiming the 3x3x3 Cube title with an 8.44 winning average after already securing the 3x3x3 One-Handed crown in 11.47 seconds. Held on December 9 at Bornemissza Péter Gimnázium in Budapest, Hungary, the one-day gathering proved to be a clinic in rapid development and personal breakthroughs. A competitive field of 47 competitors took to the tables across six distinct disciplines, pushing the pace from the early rounds through to the late-afternoon finals in a showcase of domestic talent in 2023.

Across seven rounds of action, the cubing competition delivered sharp times from the top tier of Hungarian speedcubing. Galler captured the premier Rubik's Cube final by holding off Gergely Novotni, who secured second place with an 8.89 average, and Gábor Slezák, who claimed third with a 9.04 mark. Slezák delivered the quickest single solve of the entire main event with a blistering 7.56 during the opening round, while Galler backed up his consistency with a best single of 7.77 in the final round to lock in the top spot on the podium.

The 3x3 results across the opening stages highlighted the overall depth of the roster. Slezák posted the fastest average of the first round at 8.20, followed closely by Galler at 8.78 and Szabolcs Szántai at 9.15. Novotni checked in at 9.26, Kristóf Veres turned in a 9.58, Bence Barát logged a 9.71 average, and Ádám Szabó registered 9.84. Mihály Horváth with a 9.88 average, András Orbán with a 10.73, and Dávid Szabó with a 10.84 rounded out a remarkably competitive preliminary cut.

The one-handed event tested dexterity and control, where Galler once again took command of the field. Out of 36 competitors in the single-round showdown, his 11.47 winning average and 9.43 single solve gave him a comfortable cushion over Veres, who earned second place with a 13.83 mark. Szántai climbed onto the podium in third place with an average of 15.20, completing an all-Hungarian sweep of the top positions that characterized the entire meet.

Away from the main podiums, the event proved to be a showcase for massive individual improvement and daring schedule additions. Márk István Maráczi took on a full slate of six events, slicing 53.6 percent off his Pyraminx personal best down to 9.03, dropping his one-handed mark by 20.5 percent to 18.24, making his first attempt at Skewb with an 11.41 single, and securing an 11th-place finish in the 7x7x7 Cube. Noé Vízhányó produced an enormous drop in Pyraminx, cutting his personal record by 41.2 percent to 9.79, while setting an 18.61 personal best in the 3x3x3 Cube, recording a 28th-place result in Skewb, and logging his first official Skewb attempt at 5.38.

That trend of dramatic progress continued across the lineup. Balázs Bogdándy shaved 40.2 percent off his Skewb best with a 9.13, made his first career runs at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 33.64 and 6x6x6 Cube in 3:52.63, and placed 12th in the 6x6x6 Cube. Róbert Báthory took on six disciplines, setting a 3x3x3 Cube best of 9.77 that was 19.9 percent faster than his prior standard, placing 11th in 7x7x7 Cube, and recording his first official attempts at one-handed solving in 57.10 and the 6x6x6 Cube in 4:49.45. Ádám Simon debuted in three events with a 8.88 Pyraminx, 31.20 one-handed, and 9.84 Skewb on his way to 23rd in one-handed, while Bálint Galambos tackled four events, recording first attempts in Pyraminx at 11.70, one-handed at 49.40, and Skewb at 8.39 for a 24th-place finish.

Big cubes demanded concentration and physical stamina over extended solving sequences. In the 6x6x6 Cube final, Novotni captured victory with an average of 1:46.95 and a low single of 1:44.13, holding off Barát, who finished second in 1:49.79. Szántai earned third with a 2:04.88 mark among 16 competitors. The positions reversed in the 7x7x7 Cube, where Barát seized first place with a 2:39.00 winning average and a 2:32.95 single, besting Novotni at 2:46.65 and Szántai at 3:07.35 across 12 entrants.

Side events offered rapid, frantic action to close out the WCA competition schedule. In Skewb, Bence Kiácz delivered a sharp 3.40 winning average and a field-best 1.85 single to finish ahead of Szántai at 3.95 and Ádám Szabó at 4.46 from 36 competitors. Szántai then secured a gold medal of his own in Pyraminx, averaging 3.33 with a 2.82 best single across 35 competitors, edging Novotni at 4.31 and Ádám Szabó at 4.54.

With eighteen podium positions earned across six events, Kőbánya Advent 2023 wrapped up an intense day of speed cubing in the Hungarian capital. The mix of seasoned winners and steep individual progression set an energetic benchmark as competitors look ahead to the next phase of the competitive calendar.

Galler Ábris kettős győzelmet aratott a Kőbánya Advent 2023 versenyenMagyar

A Bornemissza Péter Gimnázium termeiben rendezett eseményen a forgatások zaja és a stopperórák kattanása töltötte meg a teret. Budapest, Hungary adott otthont a megmérettetésnek, ahol a December 9, 2023 napján lebonyolított egynapos viadalon negyvenhét versenyző gyűlt össze. A 2023-as év végi esemény hat versenyszámban kínált küzdelmet, és a mezőny tagjai összesen hét fordulóban mérték össze gyorsaságukat a kirakósok népes táborában.

A Kőbánya Advent 2023 egyik legmeghatározóbb alakja Galler Ábris volt, aki a legnépszerűbb kategóriákban dominált. A klasszikus 3x3x3 Cube versenyszámban negyvenhét induló közül végzett az élen, a döntőben 8.44-es átlagot elérve, miközben a legjobb egyéni ideje 7.77 lett. A második helyet Novotni Gergely szerezte meg 8.89-es átlaggal, míg a harmadik pozícióban Slezák Gábor zárt 9.04-es eredménnyel ezen a színvonalas Rubik-kocka összecsapáson.

Galler Ábris nem érte be egyetlen aranyéremmel, ugyanis az egykezes kategóriában, a 3x3x3 One-Handed számban is a mezőny fölé kerekedett. Harminchat induló között aratott magabiztos győzelmet 11.47-es győztes átlaggal és 9.43-as legjobb egyéni kísérlettel. Mögötte Veres Kristóf lett a második 13.83-as átlaggal, míg Szántai Szabolcs a harmadik helyen végzett 15.20-szal a speedcubing mezőny ezen technikai kihívásában.

A Kőbánya Advent 2023 további kategóriáiban is parázs küzdelmek zajlottak a dobogós helyezésekért.

A 7x7x7 Cube kategóriában fordult a kocka, ott Barát Bence diadalmaskodott 2:39.00-s átlaggal, 2:32.95-ös legjobb idővel, miközben Novotni Gergely 2:46.65-tel lett második, Szántai Szabolcs pedig 3:07.35-tel harmadik.

A reflektorfényen túl sok nagyszerű egyéni előrelépést hozott ez a cubing competition forduló. Németh Péter Dániel a 3x3x3 Cube kategóriában 19.66-os egyéni csúcsot ért el, ami 22.9 százalékos javulást jelentett a korábbi 25.51-es idejéhez képest, emellett a Pyraminxben 32. helyezést ért el és életében először próbálta ki a számot 16.94-es idővel. Hanka Boldizsár szintén hatalmasat faragott a 3x3x3 Cube legjobbján, 15.18-as új rekordja 17.5 százalékkal szárnyalta túl a 18.41-es korábbi idejét, míg a Skewb versenyszámban először indulva 9.29-es idővel a 22. helyet szerezte meg.

Vásárhelyi Lilla három versenyszámban mérettette meg magát, és a 3x3x3 Cube számban elért 32.20-as egyéni csúcsa 6.6 százalékkal volt jobb a korábbi 34.46-nál, miközben első hivatalos Pyraminx kísérletét 9.45-tel teljesítve a 34. helyen zárt, valamint a Skewb számban is bemutatkozott 23.33-mal. Máté Balázs öt számot vállalt be, a 3x3x3 One-Handed kategóriában 19.16-ra javította egyéni legjobbját a 20.68-ról, ami 7.4 százalékos fejlődés, a 6x6x6 Cube-ban pedig életében először indult el, 3:45.23-as eredménnyel a 11. helyet elcsípve. Karsay Sándor ugyancsak debütált a 6x6x6 Cube mezőnyében, ahol 4:50.08-cal a 15. lett, és a 3x3x3 One-Handedben is első kísérletét tette meg 52.45-tel. Hanó Csaba Ádám szintén az egykezes kategóriában tette le névjegyét, ahol első próbálkozására 48.26-os időt ért el a 32. helyen.

A Kőbánya Advent 2023 minden tekintetben emlékezetes zárása volt az esztendőnek a magyar mezőny számára, hiszen mind a tizennyolc érmes helyezést hazai versenyzők szerezték meg. Galler Ábris kettős sikere a hagyományos és az egykezes kirakásban egyértelműen meghatározta a találkozó képét. A Bornemissza Péter Gimnázium termeiben lezajlott forduló méltó módon zárta le a szezont, új célokat állítva a hazai élvonal és az egyre erősödő utánpótlás elé.
