Inside the halls of 星の里いわふね, the steady clatter of puzzle mechanisms and the beep of inspection timers set an energetic tone for the day. A total of 117 competitors gathered in Katano, Osaka, Japan on September 15, 2025, ready to test their preparation across four dynamic events. The single-day tournament presented a packed schedule of nine rounds, giving participants a comprehensive test of speed and focus as the tournament got underway in the heart of Osaka Prefecture.
The morning schedule opened with early heats across multiple disciplines, giving speedcubing enthusiasts an immediate taste of high-tempo action. Competitors moved efficiently between judging stations and competitor tables, rotating through the fast-paced opening brackets. With 74 entrants registered for the 2x2x2 Cube and 57 taking on the Pyraminx, the tournament floor was bustling from the opening turns as solvers looked to secure their spots in the afternoon finals.
Midday featured the opening rounds of the traditional Rubik's Cube, which drew the largest field of the day with 113 competitors battling through three distinct rounds. The depth of talent kept the qualification bubble razor-thin, as entrants vied for spots in the semifinal and final brackets. Alongside the flagship event, the Skewb gathered 49 competitors across two rounds, providing a variety of movement styles that kept the venue abuzz as the mid-session heats concluded.
