Ao Nogami Leads the Field at Kanto Spring 2025 Across Three Packed PodiumsEnglish

A total of 136 competitors converged in Ota, Tokyo, Japan on May 31, 2025, setting the stage for six hard-fought rounds across three distinct disciplines. The single-day WCA competition brought intense action to the venue at Ota ward plaza, drawing some of the region's sharpest talents to compete on the tournament stage. With three puzzle formats on the schedule, the event tested a wide spectrum of manual dexterity, quick visual processing, and high-pressure execution from morning to late afternoon.

The tightest battle at Kanto Spring 2025 came right at the top of the Pyraminx standings, where mere tenths of a second decided the title. Hajime Miyazaki captured the championship with a winning average of 2.43 seconds, anchored by a best single of 1.35 seconds. Miyazaki held off a ferocious challenge from Ao Nogami, who secured second place with an average of 3.01 seconds. Haruki Tsutsui rounded out the podium in third place with a 3.68 average, concluding a rapid final where every turn carried massive weight.

Ao Nogami delivered an outstanding individual showing across the entire weekend, competing in all three events and finishing on every podium. In the main Rubik's Cube event, Nogami claimed victory with a winning average of 6.88 seconds, alongside a best single solve of 6.40 seconds across two rounds featuring 131 competitors. Junnosuke Takahashi kept the pressure on in the final round, taking second place with an average of 7.45 seconds, while Kantaro Sakamoto locked down third place with an 8.06 average.

The 3x3 results in the opening round reflected exceptional depth among the contenders in Tokyo. Junnosuke Takahashi logged an average of 7.82 seconds and a 7.35 single, while Kantaro Sakamoto registered an 8.55 average with a 7.69 single. Jin Kimura and Sho Kashiyama matched identical 8.70 averages, with Kimura logging a 7.16 single and Kashiyama a 7.95. Shunsuke Komoda put up an 8.76 average featuring a quick 6.60 single, while Kounosuke Udou and Hitoki Kidahashi delivered averages of 9.04 and 9.14 seconds respectively.

Natsuki Rokutan recorded an impressive 7.74 average with a 6.32 single, adding to the dense cluster of sub-eight-second averages. In the same preliminary round, Ao Nogami registered a 7.02 average with a 6.44 single, setting up the foundation for the eventual victory in the final round of the cubing competition.
