Firstian Fushada and Amey Gaba Lead Action Packed Field at Kanazawa 2024English

Seventy-six competitors gathered on May 25, 2024, filling the hall at the Nagadohei Youth Exchange Center for Kanazawa 2024. Located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan, the venue offered a bustling setting across six rounds and three separate disciplines. The focused hum of turning mechanisms and timer stops echoed through the room from the opening heats to the late afternoon finals. Participants traveled from multiple regions to test their skills in an intense single-day program that challenged both classic puzzle turning speed and intricate memory work. The organized setting gave competitors the perfect stage to push their limits in front of peers and judges.

The premier Rubik's Cube category featured a massive contingent of 70 entrants battling across three rounds. Firstian Fushada took top honors in the final, securing first place with an exceptional 7.41 winning average alongside a best single of 6.18. Ao Nogami pushed hard through every stage of the bracket to claim second place with a 7.76 average, while Amey Gaba captured the third podium spot with a 7.81 average. The official 3x3 results demonstrated high consistency across the final group, with every podium finisher staying under the eight-second mark. The rapid solves kept spectators watching the main stage as times tumbled round after round.

In the 4x4x4 Cube, Amey Gaba reversed the standings to take first place after two competitive rounds involving 56 competitors. Gaba delivered a winning average of 29.09 and registered the fastest single of the event at 24.39. Firstian Fushada followed closely behind in second place with a 29.19 average, trailing the top mark by a tenth of a second. Yuki Nomura took third place with a solid 29.98 average, ensuring that all three podium finishers broke the thirty-second threshold. The larger puzzle required seamless transitions between edge pairing and three-dimensional stage management throughout the competition.

The 3x3x3 Blindfolded contest presented a sharp contrast in discipline, demanding absolute memorisation before executing turns without sight. Jeff Park topped the 37-person field with a winning single time of 16.96 to secure victory for the United States. Masato Fujiwara took second place just eight hundredths of a second behind with a time of 17.04, creating one of the tightest margins of the entire day. Keita Hayakawa completed the podium in third place with an 18.30 single. Japan accounted for four podium placements overall across the weekend events, while Indonesia and India claimed two each, and the United States earned one.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors delivered remarkable personal milestones across multiple brackets at Kanazawa 2024.
