The gathering brought together 58 competitors in Jonsered, Sweden on March 21 and March 22, filling the hall with focused concentration across a grueling schedule of 16 events and 25 total rounds. From early morning warmups to the late afternoon showdowns, the cubing competition buzzed with participants pushing their limits on every puzzle style available in modern speed cubing.

The 2026 season spotlight shone brightly on Daniel Wallin, who authored a comprehensive weekend across several disciplines. In the main Rubik's Cube division, Wallin captured the top step of the podium with a winning 3x3 average of 7.24 seconds, holding off Pep Edén who took second at 7.65 and Emanuel Schelin who finished third at 7.92. Wallin also posted the quickest single solve of the event at 6.79 seconds, securing standard-setting 3x3 results against a field of 58 entrants over three tightly contested rounds.

Wallin proved equally unstoppable in the memory disciplines, dominating every blindfolded event on the program. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, he took first place with a single of 18.93 seconds, leading William Jensen who placed second in 29.75 and Eskil Munthe in third with 43.69. Wallin added victories in 4x4x4 Blindfolded with an average of 1:36.73 and 5x5x5 Blindfolded with a top single of 3:29.33, while completing a formidable 40 out of 45 cubes within the one-hour limit to win 3x3x3 Multi-Blind at Jonsered Open 2026.

William Jensen delivered an astonishing run across the larger mechanisms and side events, capturing five distinct titles. Jensen claimed the 4x4x4 Cube crown with a 29.39 average, edged out the competition in 5x5x5 Cube with a 51.01 winning mark, and paced the endurance events by winning 6x6x6 Cube in 1:36.17 and 7x7x7 Cube in 2:31.32. Adding versatility to his prowess on big cubes, Jensen also topped the standings in Megaminx with a 35.12 average and the Pyraminx event with an average of 3.16 seconds.

The weekend witnessed major leaps forward from competitors making huge strides through their official profiles. Sigge Germundson generated the largest numerical jump of the event, slicing 52.4 percent off his previous standard in 2x2x2 Cube with a new personal best of 6.42 seconds, while also trimming his 3x3x3 Cube best by 29.4 percent to 33.78 and posting a first ever attempt of 42.87 in Clock across four events. Albin Rasmussen slashed 34.8 percent off his 2x2x2 Cube personal best to record 5.60 seconds alongside a first ever attempt of 10.02 in Pyraminx. André Karl Viking Winters lowered his 3x3x3 Cube mark by 25 percent to 27.86 seconds, dropped his 2x2x2 Cube best to 8.30, and logged a Skewb personal best of 16.51. Sakarias Lekemo took on nine events, improving his 2x2x2 Cube mark by 22.4 percent to 1.63 seconds, recording a career-best eighth-place finish in 3x3x3 One-Handed, and logging first ever attempts of 4:53.25 in 7x7x7 Cube and 3:01.43 in 6x6x6 Cube.

That drive toward progress continued across the lineup with several athletes stepping up to demanding new challenges. Edwin Nilsson tackled ten different events, dropping his 5x5x5 Cube best by 16.5 percent to 2:15.03, his Megaminx by 10.7 percent to 2:19.78, and his 3x3x3 One-Handed by 7.1 percent to 23.65, on top of an eighth-place finish in Skewb. Jonathan Lukas Erhart took on nine events, earning a 13th-place finish in 7x7x7 Cube while posting first ever attempts in 6x6x6 Cube at 2:55.21, Megaminx at 1:53.74, and Pyraminx at 6.68. Ved Viraj Tambe improved his 3x3x3 Cube best by 8.5 percent to 52.24 seconds while recording first ever attempts in Pyraminx at 24.90 and 2x2x2 Cube at 9.74. Ture Degerman Melbin contested four events, setting a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 52.25 seconds and delivering first ever attempts in Skewb at 9.92 and 2x2x2 Cube at 23.45.

Short-format events brought blistering pace to the venue floor throughout the tournament. Emanuel Schelin secured the 2x2x2 Cube title with a sharp 1.90 average in the final round, edging Pep Edén at 2.12 and Frank Lindblom at 2.16. Schelin also captured victory in Square-1, finishing on an average of 10.29 seconds with a single solve of 9.74. Lindblom claimed two event victories of his own, taking the 3x3x3 One-Handed title with an 11.92 average ahead of Schelin and Tor Torstensson, and winning Skewb with a 2.35 average.

Precision timing in Clock saw Eskil Munthe take first place with a 4.74 average, while Swedish athletes swept all 48 podium positions available across the tournament schedule. Across every round and bracket, the WCA competition highlighted personal milestones, technical range, and relentless execution under pressure. By the time the final timers were cleared at Jonsered Open 2026, the weekend stood as a showcase of personal breakthroughs and speedcubing excellence.

I huvudgrenen 3x3x3 Rubiks kub visade Daniel Wallin prov på enastående form genom samtliga tre rundor. Bakom honom knep Pep Edén andraplatsen med 7.65 i snitt, tätt följd av Emanuel Schelin som tog hand om tredjeplatsen på 7.92 bland 58 deltagare.

Schelin tog även hem Square-1 med ett snitt på 10.29. Frank Lindblom segrade i Skewb på 2.35 och vann därtill 3x3x3 One-Handed med snittet 11.92, medan Eskil Munthe stod som segrare i Clock med 4.74.

Resultatlistorna visade enorma kliv framåt för flera återkommande deltagare under helgen. August Widén stod för en stor sänkning i 2x2x2 Cube med ett nytt personbästa på 5.05 mot tidigare 6.98, vilket innebar en förbättring med 27.7 procent. Laura Dawidiak deltog i tio grenar, nådde en 13:e plats i Clock och förbättrade sitt personbästa i Megaminx till 1:24.29 från 1:49.06 samt i 5x5x5 Cube till 1:55.50 från 2:22.03. Ebbe Vuollá Rimpi Umaerus slutade på 11:e plats i Skewb med nytt personbästa på 4.00 jämfört med tidigare 5.16 och kapade tiden i 3x3x3 Cube till 16.02 från 17.49. Love Rosqvist gjorde sitt allra första försök i 3x3x3 Cube på en officiell WCA-tävling och klockades för tiden 1:00.57.

För flera andra var helgen i Jonsered startpunkten på deras bana inom svensk speedcubing. Victor Alderling genomförde sin första WCA-tävling och noterade 18.22 i Pyraminx, 18.59 i 2x2x2 Cube och 19.11 i Skewb över sina fyra grenar. Vilmer Jern debuterade med 14.05 i 2x2x2 Cube, 36.14 i 3x3x3 Cube och 32.73 i Pyraminx. Tage Rosendahl ställde upp i tre grenar och noterade 12.74 i 2x2x2 Cube, 18.42 i Pyraminx och 56.17 i 3x3x3 Cube. Viktor Nechyporchuk klockade sina första officiella tider med 1:07.53 i 3x3x3 Cube, 23.82 i Pyraminx och 1:07.81 i 2x2x2 Cube.

De blindfokuserade grenarna krävde enorm koncentration och Daniel Wallin dominerade samtliga moment. Han tog hem 3x3x3 Blindfolded med ett singelresultat på 18.93 före William Jensen på 29.75. I 4x4x4 Blindfolded segrade Wallin med ett vinnande genomsnitt på 1:36.73 och i 5x5x5 Blindfolded noterade han helgens bästa lösning med 3:29.33. Slutligen vann han 3x3x3 Multi-Blind genom att klara 40 av 45 kuber på exakt 1:00:00, före Viktor Zenk på 16 av 17 kuber.

När Jonsered Open 2026 summerades kunde de 58 deltagarna blicka tillbaka på en helg fylld av framsteg och bredd. Samtliga 48 pallplatser gick till tävlande från Sverige, och kombinationen av debutanters framfart och etablerade toppresultat gjorde tävlingen till en minnesvärd milstolpe under säsongen 2026.
