Aydoğdu Dominates İzmir October 2025 as Big-Cube Endurance Sets the StageEnglish
Inside the halls of Uğur Okulları Bayraklı Folkart Kampüsü, stacks of puzzle boxes lined the tables as timers clicked consistently across the floor. Competitors warmed their fingers over plastic mechanisms, studying algorithms and adjusting tension screws under bright lights. The energy across the tournament room remained high across two full days of competition, October 25 and October 26, as 34 solvers gathered for a high-stakes cubing competition in İzmir, Turkey. With six official events scheduled across 14 rounds, every participant faced a demanding test of physical concentration and solving efficiency.
Bigger mechanisms naturally bring distinct endurance challenges to any speedcubing schedule. In the 4x4x4 Cube event, participants must manage complex edge-pairing and center-building phases before navigating parity errors that can derail an entire solve in the final turns. The increased turn count requires relentless stamina and unwavering visual tracking across multiple layers. Overcoming these big-cube hurdles requires methodical pacing, where a single misaligned slice move can spoil an otherwise smooth average. The 12 competitors who tackled the big puzzle in İzmir proved that maintaining mental stamina across long rounds separates contenders from champions.
Aysu Aydoğdu delivered a commanding masterclass in the 4x4x4 Cube final, conquering the field with a winning average of 53.55 seconds and securing the round best single of 45.20. Batu Zengel pushed hard in pursuit, claiming second place with a 54.23 average, while Luka Mikail Topuzoğlu locked up third place with a time of 1:12.19. Aydoğdu maintained steady rhythm through each reduction phase, demonstrating the exact poise and mechanical control required to dominate extended solves on larger cubes throughout the weekend.
Aydoğdu continued that blistering pace across the remaining events, turning the weekend into a historic sweep. In the classic Rubik's Cube category, the three rounds culminated in Aydoğdu capturing the title with an average of 11.72 seconds, alongside the weekend's best single of 10.46. Batu Zengel earned the runner-up spot in the 3x3 results with a 12.13 mark, followed by İskender Aznavur in third at 13.77. In the fast-paced 2x2x2 Cube final, Aydoğdu prevailed again with a 4.78 average, narrowly edging Luka Mikail Topuzoğlu at 4.81 and Batu Zengel at 5.31.
The sweep expanded as Aydoğdu claimed the Pyraminx crown with a 5.66 winning average and a 3.97 best single, leading Mustafa Kemal Akar at 7.86 and Luka Mikail Topuzoğlu at 10.10. Meanwhile, other specialists claimed their moments atop the podium. Mustafa Kemal Akar seized the Skewb victory with an 8.87 average, staying ahead of Bora Avcı at 9.27 and Batu Zengel at 9.80. In 3x3x3 One-Handed, İskender Aznavur delivered flawless one-handed execution to win with a 20.38 average and 17.62 single, topping Batu Zengel at 21.92 and Erkan Kırkan at 26.16.
