Youth and Rapid Progress Take Centre Stage at Istres Open 2024English
Inside the Halle polyvalente, the sharp click of plastic layers turning at lightning speed filled the spacious hall throughout the weekend of January 27 and 28. Forty-five competitors gathered for the Istres Open 2024, setting up their mats, synchronising their timers, and getting ready for ten intense rounds of action. With five distinct events on the schedule, the cubing competition brought together dedicated solvers from across the region to test their skill and dexterity in Istres, France.
The rising generation of competitors demonstrated how rapidly personal progress can accelerate in modern speedcubing. Solvers who only recently took up the craft showed remarkable leaps on the stopwatch, shaving significant chunks of time off their previous marks. As the 2024 season got underway, the atmosphere inside the hall reflected the enthusiasm of these emerging talents, whose dedication to mastering multiple puzzle types was evident with every solve on the official tables.
