Consistency Triumphs Across the Tables at II Candanguim 2024English

The competition hall at CEMI Cruzeiro filled with the sharp, steady clack of turning plastic as solving mats lit up across the competition tables. Over two intense days of solving on March 23 and March 24, ninety-two solvers gathered in Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil for an electric weekend of official action. The atmosphere reflected pure focus and technical precision, where the pressure of the timer demanded composure over brute speed. Rather than relying on isolated bursts of fortune, the winners across all twelve rounds demonstrated the true discipline of the sport by prioritizing repeatable, steady solves over erratic single attempts.

Across the four official disciplines featured in 2024, the tournament proved that podium spots are secured round by round through unwavering execution. In a classic cubing competition environment, single fast solves might ignite cheers, but the aggregate average always tells the definitive story. Competitors battled across multiple phases, managing their inspection periods and maintaining mechanical control under strict time constraints. The weekend showcased the depth of Brazilian speedcubing, with local athletes sweeping all twelve available podium spots across the entire program through methodical pacing and resilient technique under pressure.

The premier showcase of the gathering came in the 3x3x3 Cube, where eighty-nine competitors stepped up to test their skills in the classic Rubik's Cube event. João Victtor Rocha Leite demonstrated textbook composure across three demanding rounds, capturing the championship title with an exceptional winning average of 8.25 seconds. His best single of 7.66 anchored a rock-solid five-solve series that outpaced the rest of the field. Leonardo Sarkis Leite took second place on the podium with a 9.72 average, while Jonas Feitosa Cavalcante Filho rounded out the top tier with a 10.66 average. The 3x3 results underscored how steady execution outlasts sudden swings in time.

In the 2x2x2 Cube, sixty-one solvers took to the tables for a blistering three-round duel decided by fractions of a second. Miguel Meireles Godoi earned victory with a championship-winning average of 3.77 seconds, backed by a quick 2.97 single. Péricles Oliveira Silva mounted a fierce challenge to claim second place with an average of 3.89 seconds, while Jonas Feitosa Cavalcante Filho secured third place with a 4.23 mark, capturing his second podium finish of the weekend. The razor-thin margins in this short-format event demonstrated how tiny mechanical adjustments across five solves dictate the final rankings.

The alternate puzzles offered an equal measure of drama and precision at II Candanguim 2024. In the Pyraminx, fifty-one participants tackled the triangular challenge through three rounds, where Gabriel Dias Souza dos Santos dominated with a winning average of 3.64 seconds alongside a weekend-best 1.35 single. Miguel Meireles Godoi earned silver with a 6.42 average, followed closely by Gabriel Soares dos Santos in third at 6.72. Meanwhile, thirty-one competitors entered the Skewb, where Lucas Barbosa Marinho captured the top spot with a 7.32 winning average and a 5.87 single.
