Hong Kong Championship 2024

Eighteen competitors stepped forward to face the total isolation of the 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, where pure memorisation meets tactile precision under intense focus. In an event where a single misplaced turn spells elimination, Ng Hoi Ying mastered the silence at The Wave to seize first place with a winning single of 52.76 seconds. The two-round blind contest rewarded nerve and accuracy, as Chu Yiu On took second place with a time of 56.81 seconds. Ivan Li Ka Leong rounded out the podium in third place at 1:41.66, highlighting the extreme concentration required to solve without sight.

The Hong Kong Championship 2024 gathered 174 competitors in Hong Kong, Hong Kong across November 16 to November 17, 2024, staging 13 events across 29 rounds. While the blindfolded drama set the tone for mental discipline, the classic 3x3x3 Cube drew the largest crowd of the weekend with 164 entrants battling through four intense stages. Xuanyi Geng captured the premier title by posting a stunning 5.43 average alongside a tournament-best single of 4.45 seconds. The 3x3 results confirmed elite quality at the top, as Jiazhou Li secured second place averaging 6.68 and Zhiyuan Ma took third with 6.82.

Multi-event versatility was on full display throughout the weekend as Jiazhou Li claimed three individual titles. Beyond the runner-up finish in the main Rubik's Cube event, Jiazhou Li dominated the 2x2x2 Cube with a winning average of 1.85 seconds, finishing ahead of Zhiyuan Ma at 1.99 and Caden Ng at 2.38. Jiazhou Li added further gold medals by winning the 3x3x3 One-Handed final with a 10.43 average and conquering the Pyraminx with a 2.77 mark. That multi-discipline success mirrored the relentless pace of a premier WCA competition attracting elite talent from across the region.

Andy Mok Man Cheuk added a gold in Megaminx with a 38.03 average, while Timothy Kong Wing Sum claimed the Square-1 title with an 8.19 mark.

Away from the podium battles, several competitors delivered massive personal breakthroughs across the weekend.
