Groups of competitors gathered near the preparation tables, hands warming up over familiar plastic layers as timers flashed across the venue. A field of 190 solvers arrived to test themselves across five separate disciplines in Hefei, Anhui, China, bringing a mix of veteran poise and first-time nerves to the competition area.

Stepping into a full WCA competition for the first time or taking on brand new events brings a unique atmosphere to the solving stations. Solvers managed the strict inspection countdown, waited for the judge to lift the cover, and placed both hands on the timing mat before releasing their opening turns. Across 11 rounds of action throughout the single-day gathering, the event offered newcomers and returning solvers alike a chance to build stage experience and establish official marks.

Beyond the top steps of the awards ceremonies, several competitors delivered massive personal breakthroughs across packed schedules. Zexin Pu entered five disciplines and slashed past previous personal marks, recording an 8.60 in Skewb that was 71.3 percent faster than a previous best of 29.98, alongside a 7.56 in Pyraminx that improved on a former mark of 22.18 by 65.9 percent, while also taking a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed with a time of 37.29. Junzhao Xia tackled four events, delivering a 9.28 3x3x3 Cube personal best that was 38.4 percent faster than a former 15.06 mark, dropping Skewb to 6.59 from 7.43, and logging a first attempt in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 27.59.

Other competitors marked the weekend by expanding their official repertoires with multiple debut events. Heling Cheng contested five events, achieving a best finish of 22nd place in 2x2x2 Cube while logging first-ever official attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 23.01, Pyraminx at 5.94, and Skewb at 5.49. Zeliang Hu took on five categories, recording a best finish of 16th place in 3x3x3 One-Handed, dropping their personal best in the event to 11.68 from 15.65 for a 25.4 percent drop, while making initial attempts at Skewb in 13.50 and Pyraminx in 10.62. Yuhan Wu completed five disciplines, logging first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed with 36.81, Pyraminx with 12.08, and Skewb with 36.32. Weiran Liu entered four events, posting first marks in Pyraminx at 9.28, Skewb at 11.84, and 2x2x2 Cube at 2.69.

The headline traditional Rubik's Cube contest drew 187 competitors through three rounds of speedcubing. Xuanyi Geng claimed the 3x3x3 Cube title with a winning average of 4.62 seconds, also posting the round best single of 4.36 seconds. Yiheng Wang took the second spot on the podium with a 4.93 average, while Muyang Liu completed the top three with an average of 5.98 seconds, rounding out a memorable series of 3x3 results at the Hefei Open 2025.

Short-format solving produced historic milestones during the 2x2x2 Cube rounds. Ziyu Ye delivered a world record single of 0.39 seconds during the event. Sky Guo earned a Hong Kong national record single of 0.41 seconds, alongside an average of 2.15 seconds. In the final standings, Yiheng Wang took first place with a winning average of 1.44 seconds and a 0.91 best single, followed closely by Ziyu Ye in second place at 1.50 and Tian Xia in third at 1.66.

Speed cubing precision continued across the specialty categories throughout the afternoon. Lingkun Jiang secured first place in Pyraminx from a field of 73 competitors, finishing with a winning average of 1.33 seconds and a best single of 1.17 seconds. Tian Xia took second place with an average of 2.20 seconds, and Yifan Luo finished third with 2.32 seconds in the two-round contest.

In 3x3x3 One-Handed, Zhen Chen won the title among 70 entrants, finishing with an average of 9.48 seconds and a best single of 8.45 seconds. Tao Wen secured the runner-up spot with an 11.16 average, while Muyang Liu reached another podium step with an average of 12.04 seconds.

The Skewb bracket saw Ziyu Ye take first place with a winning average of 2.48 seconds and a best single of 1.68 seconds among 53 competitors. Kaixi Guo placed second with a 2.57 average, and Coral Yuxin Cai claimed third place with 2.77 seconds. Across all podium outcomes, solvers representing China collected all 15 top-three positions at the Hefei Open 2025.

With 11 total rounds completed in a single packed day, the Hefei Open 2025 delivered both world-class speed and meaningful milestones for emerging competitors. Solvers packed up their cubes and timers at TIMG-PARK, having added new official marks and memorable stage runs to the competitive record.

双线作战的Ziyu Ye (叶梓渝)在斜方魔方决赛中延续了火热状态，凭借2.48秒的平均成绩斩获冠军。Kaixi Guo (郭铠希)以2.57秒紧随其后获得亚军，Coral Yuxin Cai (蔡羽欣)以2.77秒摘取季军，该项目共有53名选手参与了两个轮次的较量。

金字塔魔方项目同样竞争激烈，共有73名选手参与比拼。Lingkun Jiang (姜凌坤)在两轮比拼中发挥极其稳健，最终以1.33秒的夺冠平均成绩高居榜首，其单次最好成绩达到了1.17秒。Tian Xia (夏天)以2.20秒收获亚军，Yifan Luo (骆奕帆)以2.32秒获得季军。

三阶单手项目展现了出色的单手速拧技巧，Zhen Chen (陈震)在70名选手中脱颖而出，以9.48秒的平均成绩与8.45秒的单次成绩夺得冠军。Tao Wen (温韬)以11.16秒获得第二名，Muyang Liu (刘慕阳)以12.04秒的平均成绩位列第三名登上领奖台。

赛场上众多选手的进步同样令人瞩目。Weijian Jiang (蒋伟健)在本次比赛中多项成绩大幅提升，二阶个人最好成绩1.49秒比原纪录快了46.8%，金字塔个人最好成绩4.17秒提升了33.1%，三阶个人最好成绩11.97秒提升了22.7%。Shuojin Feng (冯铄今)参加了5个项目，不仅完成了斜方魔方首秀并录得6.68秒，金字塔个人最好成绩也提升32.3%至4.66秒，并在单手项目中获得第6名。Jinxuan Li (李瑾萱)首次尝试斜方项目取得3.18秒并位列第11名，二阶个人最好成绩也大幅缩短28.6%达到1.32秒。

持续挑战自我的选手们不断书写突破。Cheng Fang (方程)迎来了二阶魔方首秀并斩获5.39秒成绩，其三阶个人最好成绩也提升24.5%至12.45秒。Zichen Wang (王梓辰)挑战了5个项目，完成三阶单手项目首秀并取得32.30秒，三阶个人最好成绩大幅提升21.7%至15.22秒。Youcai Li (李有才)则在金字塔和二阶项目上分别完成首秀，分别录得5.32秒和5.08秒，其金字塔项目获得了第17名的好名次。

随着全部5个项目冠军的诞生，Hefei Open 2025圆满落幕。全天比赛中中国选手包揽了全部15个领奖台席位，展示了中国魔方选手在各类旋转谜题项目中的深厚底蕴与强劲实力，也为2025赛季的魔方赛场留下了浓墨重彩的一笔。
