Imanuel Müller delivered a commanding series of performances in Hasselt, Belgium, sweeping three individual titles to highlight an action-packed day of speedcubing. The German competitor reached the top of the podium in the 3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube, and 4x4x4 Cube events, setting the standard across multiple disciplines. His winning 3x3x3 average of 8.24 seconds, paired with a round-best single solve of 7.45 seconds, anchored a tournament that brought together seventy competitors on March 8, 2025. Held at Scholen Kindsheid Jesu, the Hasselt Saturday Open 2025 featured six distinct events and ten rounds of spirited official play.

For newcomers and returning enthusiasts alike, walking into a busy cubing competition hall brings a distinctive blend of anticipation and nervous energy. The rapid clack of plastic mechanisms, the glow of stackmat timers, and the structured pacing of official judging create an atmosphere unlike any casual practice session. Stepping up to the solving station for an opening attempt demands sharp concentration under the scrutiny of the clock. Across the venue floor, participants navigated multiple rounds of puzzles ranging from standard twisty cubes to large-format variants, experiencing every stage of a full-scale World Cube Association meeting.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, the heart of the tournament emerged in the substantial milestones recorded by competitors expanding their horizons. Isaac Shephard took on five events, completing a first official attempt at 5x5x5 with a time of 2:06.90, posting a first attempt at 6x6x6 in 5:16.50, achieving a 24th-place finish in 6x6x6, and trimming his 4x4x4 personal best to 1:04.03, which was 27 percent faster than before. Jasper Maes made an impressive leap across five disciplines, securing a 17th-place finish in 2x2x2, finishing a first 5x5x5 try in 2:00.86, improving his 4x4x4 personal best to 53.22 seconds to drop 34.6 percent, and taking his 2x2x2 mark to 4.02 seconds for a 32.2 percent improvement. Kristina Nesterenko tackled four events, recording a first official Megaminx result of 3:44.57, earning 47th place in 2x2x2, and cutting her 4x4x4 best by 25.8 percent down to 1:50.45. Swaransh Jaiswal entered two events, claiming 48th place in 2x2x2 while lowering his 2x2x2 best to 7.79 seconds by 34.6 percent and his 3x3x3 mark to 33.71 seconds by 23.6 percent.

The progress continued across various disciplines as dedicated solvers capitalized on the live competition format. Anneroze Foulon took on two events, earning 57th place in 2x2x2, lowering her 3x3x3 best to 37.89 seconds for a 33.3 percent reduction, and improving her 2x2x2 time by 17.6 percent to 9.86 seconds. Sam Aerts Van der Aa focused entirely on the main event, finishing 36th in 3x3x3 after cutting his personal best down to 14.67 seconds, an improvement of 30.9 percent over his previous mark of 21.22. Marcus Apostol demonstrated great endurance across six events, claiming 25th in 2x2x2 and shaving 28.2 percent off his Megaminx mark to finish in 1:52.76. Yasna Zhechev entered four categories, taking 19th in Megaminx while trimming his personal record in that event down to 1:40.04, outpacing his prior best by 26.5 percent.

In the headline 3x3x3 Cube tournament, the classic Rubik's Cube drew a full field of seventy entrants through three tightly contested rounds. Müller secured first place with his 8.24 final average, staying clear of Isaac Lai Yin Chung of Singapore, who earned second place with an average of 9.02. Marco Vorländer of Germany joined them on the podium in third place with a 9.35 mark. The final round provided a tense showcase of speed cubing efficiency, with the decisive 3x3 results reflecting the consistency required to survive cutoffs and advance to the final stage.

The smaller 2x2x2 Cube produced equally intense moments among sixty-one participants in a rapid single-round shootout. Müller again captured the victory, posting a winning average of 2.55 seconds and the fastest single solve of the event at 1.24 seconds. Belgium's Joran Pauwels took second place with an average of 2.72, while Isaac Lai Yin Chung collected his second podium of the weekend by finishing third in 2.80. The fast turns and short solve times highlighted the narrow margins separating top placements across the board.

Mid-sized and specialty puzzles expanded the competitive variety throughout the afternoon in Hasselt. In the 4x4x4 Cube, which drew forty-nine solvers over two rounds, Müller earned his third title with a winning average of 31.29 seconds and a standout single solve of 25.29. The big cubes provided an exhaustive test of stamina and pattern recognition in the late stages of the program. Marco Vorländer took charge of the 5x5x5 Cube, winning the single-round event in 56.88 seconds with a best single of 51.59, followed by Yash Budhiraja in 1:02.30 and Müller in 1:07.15.
