Vidyan Borah and Aditya Goswami Claim High-Stakes Titles at Guwahati Summer Cube Open 2023English

A blistering 5.72 single solve and a commanding 9.10 final average propelled Vidyan Borah to the top of the podium in the classic Rubik's Cube, capturing the headline title in decisive fashion. The Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium hosted a packed schedule of speedcubing across eight events and ten rounds on July 16, 2023, drawing 77 competitors to Guwahati, Assam, India. Borah faced a deep field of 77 solvers through two demanding rounds of three-by-three solving, outperforming runner-up Anwesh Borgohain who finished with a 10.36 average and third-place finisher Spondon Nath who posted a 10.64 average.

The championship battles at the Guwahati Summer Cube Open 2023 featured intensely narrow margins across multiple finals. In the 2x2x2 Cube, Neil Gour captured the title with a winning average of 4.16, edging out Gaurav Bachani at 4.17 and Rupangkan Mazumdar at 4.18. Gour also delivered a best single solve of 3.50 in the final round of the 48-competitor field. The split-second differences across the top three podium positions highlighted the unforgiving nature of the two-round sprint format in the regional cubing competition.

Aditya Goswami produced a dominant double-victory weekend, taking first place in both the 4x4x4 Cube and Megaminx. In the four-by-four event, Goswami recorded a winning average of 42.40 and a best single of 37.15 across 20 competitors, finishing clear of Nayan Jyoti Das with a 45.22 average and Hardik Sood with a 48.43 average. Goswami then delivered a top mark of 1:07.01 in the Megaminx final, holding off Nayan Jyoti Das at 1:15.97 and Moon Gohain at 1:28.09 in the nine-person field with a best single of 1:02.47.

Single-handed solving pushed the roster to its limits in the 3x3x3 One-Handed event, where Anwesh Borgohain secured the championship with an 18.73 average and a single of 17.21 among 32 competitors. The battle for the top spot came down to three hundredths of a second, with Nayan Jyoti Das taking second place on an 18.76 average while Aditya Goswami claimed third at 20.44. In the side events, Gaurav Bachani won the 38-competitor Pyraminx bracket with a 4.46 average over Moon Gohain at 5.63 and Shivam Kumar Dutta at 6.09.
