Jack Pfeifer Secures Four Event Victories at Green Fall 2024English

The competition floor inside Green Middle School filled with focused energy on October 26, 2024, as competitors settled behind their timers with inspection mats ready and judges poised. Station by station, puzzle covers lifted to reveal scrambled layers, beginning an intensive day of solving in Uniontown, Ohio, USA. A total of 31 competitors gathered for the single-day gathering, taking on five separate puzzle disciplines across 10 rounds of official tournament action.

Green Fall 2024 opened its schedule with large-puzzle precision, putting stamina and turning accuracy to the test right from the morning stages. The 7x7x7 Cube featured 13 contenders and went straight to the final, setting an exacting pace for the rest of the day. Jack Pfeifer established his dominance early by taking first place with an average of 2:18.00 and a best single of 2:14.57. Ganghui Lin took the second spot on the podium at 3:05.31, while Sean Cutshaw finished third with a time of 3:09.08.

The big-cube momentum rolled seamlessly into the 5x5x5 Cube, where 19 entrants battled through two rounds of competition. Pfeifer maintained his winning form, capturing his second title of the meet with a sub-50 average of 49.89 and a fast single of 47.27. Lin secured another runner-up finish with an average of 58.02, and Cutshaw earned his second third-place podium of the morning with an average of 1:10.47.

As the afternoon session arrived, attention shifted toward the classic three-layered challenge. The traditional 3x3x3 Cube drew the full field of 31 competitors across three rounds of intense speedcubing. The 3x3 results culminated in an exceptionally tight final round where Pfeifer took top honors with a 7.96 average and a single of 7.31. Lin was right on his heels, finishing second with a 7.98 average, followed by Cutshaw in third at 8.97.

One-handed solving added a distinct technical dimension to the afternoon schedule, with 23 entrants competing across two rounds. Handling the Rubik's Cube with a single hand demands exceptional finger control, and Pfeifer once again topped the standings with a winning average of 13.31 and a best single of 10.47. Cutshaw claimed second place on the podium with a 14.23 average, while Lin took third place at 15.15.

Away from the top of the podium, several competitors delivered massive improvements across multiple categories. Colton Gehrling entered three disciplines, recording a first official attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed of 39.30 and Skewb of 8.96, alongside a huge 3x3x3 personal best of 13.23 that was 54.1 percent faster than their previous mark. Ethan Henderson slashed their Skewb personal best by 37 percent down to 6.32 across two entered events. Nikhil Unwala delivered a 32.4 percent drop in the 3x3x3 Cube to set a personal best of 22.76, while Shane Rylan Senften improved their Skewb personal best by 29.1 percent to 10.63 across four events.

The depth of progress continued across the venue as competitors tackled fresh events and reached new milestones. Isaac Neidlinger took on four events, completing a first official attempt at 5x5x5 Cube in 2:38.52 while dropping their 3x3x3 Cube best by 13.9 percent to 13.96. Ryan Galang improved their 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 22.8 percent to 17.04 and their 5x5x5 Cube best by 17.8 percent to 2:48.61. Jude Grimminger earned a best finish of 9th in 5x5x5 Cube with a 1:17.01 personal best, also cutting their one-handed mark by 22.7 percent to 35.06. Harrison Morris took part in their first WCA competition, entering four events and recording first-ever official marks of 30.50 in 3x3x3 Cube, 16.22 in Skewb, and 1:29.60 in one-handed.

The final event of Green Fall 2024 brought dynamic speed cubing to the table with Skewb, where 19 participants contested two rounds. Gabriel Gowman broke Pfeifer's sweep by winning the event with an average of 3.41 and a best single of 2.83. Pfeifer placed second with an average of 3.73, and Cutshaw picked up third at 4.45. Across the entire cubing competition, the United States collected 11 podium spots and China earned four, concluding a memorable day of racing in Ohio.

With 10 rounds completed across five events, Green Fall 2024 brought its busy single-day schedule to a close. From big cubes in the morning to dramatic sprint rounds in the afternoon, the competitors made the most of their time at the tables before looking ahead to the next stop on the tournament calendar.
