Memory and Speed Converge as Greek Nationals 2025 Takes Over ThessalonikiEnglish
Thirteen competitors stepped forward to test their memory in the ultimate test of spatial awareness, taking on the multi-blind event with absolute stillness. Solving multiple puzzles without sight demands an immense degree of memorisation, calculating full piece positions before lowering the blindfold and committing completely to mental tracking. At Greek Nationals 2025, held from December 5 to December 7 at the Capsis Hotel Thessaloniki, Elian Beguec captured top honours in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind by successfully solving 7 out of 8 cubes in a time of 34:52. Thodoris Iatrou secured second place with 9 out of 12 puzzles solved in 49:51, while Konstantinos Zaglanis completed the podium by logging 7 out of 8 cubes in 51:48.
The sightless precision continued in the standard 3x3x3 Blindfolded discipline, where twenty-one solvers navigated the intense demands of single-cube mental mapping. Thodoris Iatrou delivered a commanding performance to claim first place, recording a winning average of 49.83 seconds alongside a best single solve of 35.68 seconds. The event highlighted the sheer mental discipline required on the competitive stage, establishing a standard of intense concentration early in a packed weekend of speedcubing in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Across the entire tournament schedule, 127 competitors gathered in 2025 to tackle 15 official events across 23 competitive rounds. While memory disciplines captivated early attention, the classic 3x3x3 Cube drew the largest lineup with 120 competitors entering the three-round main event. The final 3x3 results crowned Argiris Zotos as champion after an exceptional showing, putting together a winning average of 7.63 seconds and posting a rapid 7.00 single. Elian Beguec took the runner-up spot with a 7.93 average, while George Tsilimenis took third place with an 8.21 mark.
Beyond the main event, Elian Beguec produced a remarkable string of victories across multiple puzzle formats throughout the WCA competition. Beguec claimed first place in the 2x2x2 Cube with a 1.62 winning average and led the 4x4x4 Cube standings with a 32.31 average. That momentum extended into the 3x3x3 One-Handed final with a 12.21 average, the 5x5x5 Cube with a 56.66 average, the 6x6x6 Cube with a 1:47.42 result, and the 7x7x7 Cube with a 2:41.22 mark.
