Memory Masters and Multievent Sweep Define Girona Summer Open 2025English
Jordi Lleixà López delivered the defining blindfolded performance of the weekend in Girona, Spain, clocking a lightning-fast single of 2:12.23 in the 4x4x4 Blindfolded final. Solving complex twisty puzzles without sight demands supreme spatial orientation and immense memorisation under pressure, as competitors must encode every piece before pulling down the blindfold. Lleixà López proved untouchable across the sightless disciplines, matching his big-cube memory triumph with the top spot in 3x3x3 Blindfolded courtesy of a sharp 35.80 single. The Best Western Premier CMC Girona played host to this high-stakes test of recall from August 9 to August 10, setting a vibrant stage for 67 competitors across 15 events.
The 5x5x5 Blindfolded competition tested mental stamina to the absolute limit, where France standout Elian Beguec registered a successful solve of 11:59.00 to capture first place over Ot Caminals Aleu, who finished in 21:17.00. Beyond the memory feats, the Girona Summer Open 2025 transformed into an extraordinary showcase of versatility. Beguec embarked on a massive campaign across the weekend schedule, taking top honours in 10 different disciplines. His comprehensive display spanned small twisty puzzles and the largest layered hardware in modern speedcubing, earning France 15 total podium placements while host nation Spain accumulated 31 podium spots.
Beguec dominated the flagship 3x3x3 Cube, recording a winning average of 8.23 and a best single of 7.56 across two competitive rounds featuring 64 contenders. In 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, Beguec shared the winning single score of 29 moves alongside Lleixà López, while Josep Pedragosa Feliu secured third place with 39 moves in the calculated, hour-long strategic discipline.
Across the mid-sized and large mechanical cubes, Beguec maintained complete control over the field. He secured the 4x4x4 Cube victory with a 29.43 average and a single of 26.21 against 35 competitors.
