Diverse Puzzle Slate Highlights Energetic Action at German Newcomer Day 2025English
Kiarah Avéline Dähne claimed the premier 3x3x3 Cube title with a clinical 7.71 final average, setting the benchmark during a high-tempo day of speedcubing. Held at Janusz Korczak Gesamtschule in Gütersloh, Germany on March 1, 2025, German Newcomer Day 2025 gathered 113 competitors across an expansive program that stretched competitors through six distinct disciplines. Across nine total rounds, the schedule showcased everything from rapid-fire face-turners to corner-turning tetrahedron challenges, offering an exhaustive celebration of mechanical diversity.
The 3x3 results formed the centerpiece of the gathering as 111 entrants tackled the standard Rubik's Cube across three progressive phases. Dähne delivered the decisive performance of the afternoon, pairing the winning 7.71 mark with the round's lowest single solve of 6.69 seconds. Henri Gerber secured the runner-up position with an 8.21 average, while Imanuel Müller rounded out the podium spots at 8.68. The three rounds demanded both technical precision and adaptability under pressure, testing every layer of fingertip control on the classic puzzle.
Beyond the main event, the wider puzzle slate allowed versatile specialists to flourish across different formats. Imanuel Müller emerged as a dominant force across the multi-event catalog, taking three individual titles throughout the meet. Müller captured first place on the 4x4x4 Cube with an average of 29.26 seconds, beating Gerber's 30.43 and Azerbaijan's Javid Nabizade at 35.43. Müller also proved untouchable in Pyraminx, taking top honors with a 3.65 average ahead of Jule Stadelmeier's 3.74 and Gerber's 3.93.
The 2x2x2 Cube generated intense drama over two packed rounds as 92 competitors traded blazing times. Müller completed a standout personal triple by capturing gold with a 1.67 winning average, edging past Gerber's 1.95 and Noah Kraft's 2.10. The event proved exceptionally fast from top to bottom, with multiple competitors posting standout individual attempts across the bracket. Gerber collected his own premier silverware elsewhere on the roster, capturing the Skewb title with an average of 3.23 and mastering the 3x3x3 One-Handed event in 13.08 seconds.
Behind the headline podium battles, the floor at this cubing competition saw dramatic breakthroughs from developing competitors exploring new territory. Benjamin Aalto tackled a full program of six disciplines, securing a personal best of 31.44 seconds in 3x3x3 One-Handed to improve by 56.9 percent while registering first-ever marks of 7.44 in Pyraminx and 3.75 on the 2x2x2 Cube. Gesa Seifert contested all six events as well, posting an initial 59.28 on the 4x4x4 Cube, taking 25th in 3x3x3 One-Handed, and logging personal bests of 7.35 on Skewb (48.8 percent faster) and 13.91 on 3x3x3. Sebastian Schmidt achieved a 44.9 percent improvement on the 4x4x4 Cube with a 1:32.31 personal record alongside first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed and Pyraminx. Danail Slavkov made initial attempts in Skewb and 4x4x4 Cube while cutting 35.1 percent off his 3x3x3 Cube best with a 24.21.

Katharina Guth recorded her first attempts in Pyraminx with a 14.70, 2x2x2 Cube with a 6.40, and 4x4x4 Cube with a 1:09.72, peaking with an 18th-place finish in 3x3x3 One-Handed. Ștefan-Daniel Rad took on five events, completing first-ever attempts of 4.27 on 2x2x2 Cube, 19.12 on 3x3x3 Cube, and 1:20.43 on 4x4x4 Cube.
The depth of the field demonstrated how speed cubing continues to foster versatile solvers capable of switching between completely different movement styles and geometric layouts within minutes. Germany took home seventeen of the eighteen total podium spots contested throughout the day, with Azerbaijan claiming the remaining position in the 4x4x4 Cube. The non-stop progression through six puzzle styles ensured that every competitor found room to test their boundaries across the table.
As the final timers stopped, German Newcomer Day 2025 concluded as a comprehensive test of puzzle variety and personal growth in Gütersloh. From Dähne's decisive 3x3x3 victory to the wave of competitors branching into new challenges, the WCA competition delivered a rich display of dexterity and concentration.
