Daniel Wallin Takes Five Titles at Fyris NxNxN 'n Side 2023 in UppsalaEnglish

Inside OK Linnés Klubbgård in Uppsala, Sweden, solving mats stayed busy throughout October 14 as 29 competitors gathered for a packed single-day programme. Across 12 rounds spanning eight events, competitors rotated through timing stations with mechanical precision. The atmosphere at this cubing competition reflected a community deeply familiar with efficient execution, where each solver inspected their scrambled puzzle before launching into sequences of rapid finger turns across multiple categories.

While single-handed techniques frequently celebrate the balance of fingertip control and ergonomic execution, the standard 3x3x3 Cube contest stood as the premier test of dexterity and planning. The classic Rubik's Cube drew a field of 28 entrants over three tightly contested rounds. In the final round of the main event, Daniel Wallin claimed the top spot on the podium with a winning average of 7.85 seconds, complemented by the best single of the discipline at 6.89 seconds. Samuel Eklund-Hanna followed in second place with an 8.58 average, while Alve Carlqvist secured third on an 8.63 average in the decisive 3x3 results.

That victory was merely one part of an extensive showcase for Wallin at Fyris NxNxN 'n Side 2023. Across the larger cube categories, Wallin demonstrated complete control over all four events. He topped the 4x4x4 Cube standings across three rounds with a final average of 31.31 seconds and a fastest single of 25.94 seconds, finishing ahead of Minea Alanen who averaged 35.80 seconds. Moving to the 5x5x5 Cube, Wallin claimed victory with an average of 1:03.59, while in the 6x6x6 Cube he secured the top mark with a 2:00.20 average over second-place Ludwig Ivarsson at 4:02.19.

The multi-layered Megaminx puzzle brought another gold for Wallin, who completed the 12-sided challenge with a winning average of 50.01 seconds and a single of 46.10 seconds. Carlqvist took second place with a time of 1:17.25, while Eklund-Hanna finished third at 1:21.03. In all, Wallin concluded the 2023 meeting with five event victories, setting the competitive standard across the bigger cubes and side challenges.

Away from the top of the podium, several competitors delivered massive personal breakthroughs across multiple disciplines. Rasmus Chilléen notched the most substantial leap of the day in the 2x2x2 Cube, logging a personal best of 3.05 seconds, which improved upon his previous best of 5.52 seconds by 44.7 percent, alongside a 19.43 single in the 3x3x3 Cube. Valter Lärnestad took on three events and dropped his 2x2x2 Cube single to 6.28 seconds, cutting 41.1 percent off his prior 10.67 mark. Marcus Holm entered two events and carved out a 25.5 percent improvement on 2x2x2 with a 3.95 single while also registering a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Cube with a time of 25.50 seconds.
