Dhruv Ambastha delivered a blistering single of 28.20 seconds to claim victory in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, setting the standard for a competitive day of speed cubing at Crimson Dale. The dedicated space inside the Pune venue provided an intense setting on December 1, 2024, as seventeen competitors gathered to test their skills across specialized disciplines. The quiet focus inside the competition hall framed a compact programme where every solve demanded immense precision and tactical discipline.

FMC Pune 2024 brought top-tier puzzle solving to Pune, Maharashtra, India, showcasing three distinct events across three total rounds. While mainstream tournaments often spotlight sheer turning speed on standard puzzles, this gathering emphasised mastery in efficiency, memory, and mechanical rhythm. Spectators and participants within Crimson Dale witnessed high-calibre performances from domestic contenders as well as international entrants visiting from Italy and the United Kingdom.

In the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves contest, Pranav Dandgaval secured first place with an impressive average of 31.67 moves, bolstered by a best single solution of 28 moves. The discipline challenges competitors to solve the classic Rubik's Cube with the lowest possible move count over an hour of analysis. Dandgaval held off strong challenges from Italian duo Chiara Marcucci, who finished second with a 32.67 average, and Vincenzo Maria Gammino, who captured third with 34.33 moves across the round.

The 3x3x3 Blindfolded event proved equally dramatic, requiring competitors to inspect and memorize the cube before executing solutions entirely sightless. Dhruv Ambastha took the top step of the podium with his winning 28.20 single, outperforming Soundhariya Hariharan, who earned second place with a successful attempt of 1:38.02. Chiara Marcucci rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 3:57.53, adding another international medal to the final tally.

Beyond the championship podiums, the official WCA competition served as a proving ground for several under-the-radar competitors taking massive strides. Reyansh Ritesh Kumar tackled three events on the schedule, achieving a 27.1 percent drop in Clock with a new personal best of 4.81 compared to his previous mark of 6.60. Kumar also logged his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Blindfolded, securing a sixth-place finish in 17:59.00, alongside a personal best of 42 moves in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, a 10.6 percent reduction from his prior standard of 47.

Nachiket Likhite showed exceptional progress across three events, shaving 26.8 percent off his 3x3x3 Blindfolded best to clock 8:26.68 and secure fifth place, down from his prior 11:32.00 benchmark. Likhite also recorded a 4.3 percent improvement in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with a personal best of 45. Angad Rahul Nanal entered two events and advanced his Clock personal best by 10.9 percent to 16.13, finishing 11th, while Anjor Ghule completed his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with a solid 50-move solution and took 9th in Clock.

The Clock event provided rapid-fire action at the tables, drawing fifteen competitors to solve the dual-sided mechanical puzzle. Dhruva Nikhil Jagtap captured the title with a polished winning average of 5.16 seconds, having posted the round's best single of 4.70. Jay Nikhil Gadgil secured second place with an average of 5.91 seconds, while Kaivalya Rakesh Parange claimed third place on the podium with an 8.15 average.

By the close of proceedings, the medal distribution reflected host nation strength alongside sharp international showings, with India claiming six podium places and Italy securing three. The single-day schedule condensed significant drama into Crimson Dale, proving that specialised events generate unmatched technical intensity. For participants tracking their 3x3 results and alternate disciplines, FMC Pune 2024 served as a standout milestone on the regional speedcubing calendar.

As the cubing competition concluded, the community wrapped up a day defined by high efficiency, meticulous blindfold execution, and notable individual progression. The 2024 season in Maharashtra continues to build momentum, with Crimson Dale offering an ideal home for such focused problem-solving tests. Competitors now carry their newly set marks into the upcoming tournament circuit with high aspirations.

FMC Pune 2024
