Baiqiang Dong Secures FMC Asia 2025 Victory Across Synchronised Continental StagesEnglish
A total of 316 competitors took their places on July 27, 2025, marking one of the defining moments of the mid-year speedcubing calendar. The single-day test brought together an immense field across Multiple Cities, XW, serving as a massive showcase of analytical precision. As the global cubing competition schedule progressed through late July, FMC Asia 2025 offered participants a unified arena to test their efficiency against the clock in a single, decisive round of competition.
Unlike traditional speed cubing matches where hands fly at blistering rates, 3x3x3 Fewest Moves places the classic Rubik's Cube under deliberate, paper-and-pencil dissection. Solvers spend sixty minutes per attempt searching for the shortest possible sequence of rotations. With the 2025 season reaching its midpoint, continental standings hung in the balance as participants throughout Multiple Cities tackled three complex scrambles in hopes of establishing benchmark 3x3 results.
China's Baiqiang Dong delivered a masterclass in economy, capturing the overall title with an exceptional winning average of 22.00 moves. Dong put together three calculated attempts, highlighted by a best single of 21 moves, to outpace the massive field of 316 competitors. The performance anchored the top of the leaderboard and set a gold standard for tactical cube manipulation across the entire international circuit this summer.
The battle for the remaining podium steps proved just as fierce down to the final turn. Wong Chong Wen of Singapore took the second step on the podium with a stellar average of 22.33 moves, pushing the event winner to the limit throughout the day. Jibo Zhao of China claimed the third spot with a solid 23.33 average, securing two of the three podium positions for Chinese competitors in an intensely contested finish.
Beyond the fight for top honors, the day produced remarkable breakthroughs for competitors making significant strides in their craft. Qingling Chen turned heads by securing an 89th-place finish with a personal best single of 33 moves, cutting 34 percent off a previous best mark of 50. Yunlin Miao achieved a new personal best of 33 moves, which was 29.8 percent faster than a prior best of 47, finishing in 107th place overall.
Progress continued throughout the rankings as Yueqi Bai secured 142nd place with a new best of 42 moves, improving 26.3 percent on an earlier mark of 57. Chuntian Long improved by 21.8 percent to finish 158th with a 43-move solution, while Yixun Zhao reached 49th position on the back of a 30-move personal best that dropped 21.1 percent from 38.
