Debutants and Standouts Light Up the Tables at El Masnou Open 2024English

The tables at Espai Jove de ca n'humet were filled with intense focus as a fresh wave of competitors stepped onto the tournament floor. For many participants taking their seats at a speedcubing tournament for the very first time, the gathering in El Masnou, Spain represented a bold first test under official conditions. The single-day WCA competition on April 20, 2024, brought together 50 competitors across 10 distinct events and 14 total rounds, setting a lively stage for both established figures and ambitious newcomers.

The main draw of the weekend centered on the classic Rubik's Cube, where the 3x3 results unfolded across three full rounds of action. Pavlo Bondar of Ukraine delivered a composed performance in the final, securing the top spot with a winning average of 8.90 seconds and a best single solve of 7.42. Daniel Cofreces Jaureguizar of Spain earned second place with a 9.51 average, while Erik Subirats took third on the podium with a 9.96 mark in a tight finish.

Bondar carried that consistency across a demanding multi-event schedule, claiming four event victories throughout the cubing competition. In 3x3x3 One-Handed, Bondar topped a field of 37 entrants with a 12.45 average, finishing ahead of China's Zhedong Wang at 16.17 and Cofreces Jaureguizar at 16.50. Beyond the top steps of the podium, the deeper story of El Masnou Open 2024 lived in the personal milestones achieved across the venue.
