Don Bosco Cubing 2023 Brings 106 Solvers Together in CochabambaEnglish

Enrique Adolfo Delgado delivered the defining performance of Don Bosco Cubing 2023 by capturing the 3x3x3 Cube title with a clinical 8.78 winning average. The four-round main event featured 100 competitors and concluded with Delgado logging a best single of 8.02 seconds to seal the victory. Solvers from across the country made the journey to Cochabamba, Bolivia, gathering at Colegio Don Bosco on November 11 and November 12 to test their skills over a demanding weekend of speedcubing across ten distinct disciplines.

The trip to Cochabamba proved worthwhile for 106 total competitors who packed the venue across 21 rounds of official action. Travelling solvers tackled everything from side puzzles to the classic Rubik's Cube, creating an intense atmosphere of continuous solving. Enrique Adolfo Delgado did not stop with his primary crown, also claiming third place on the podium in both the 6x6x6 Cube with a 2:01.11 mean and the 7x7x7 Cube with a 3:04.46 result, alongside a second-place finish in Megaminx.

Large puzzles throughout the weekend belonged almost entirely to Josias Milan Sirpa Pinto, who swept three of the biggest categories. He secured the 5x5x5 Cube title with a 52.80 average and a 50.44 best single, then conquered the 6x6x6 Cube in 1:55.79 ahead of Alejandro Marze Rossel. Sirpa Pinto capped his big cube mastery by taking the 7x7x7 Cube title in 3:00.32, holding off Daniel Delgado Candia in a tight final round.

Alejandro Marze Rossel mounted a formidable campaign of his own across multiple categories. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Marze Rossel posted a winning average of 31.44 seconds and a single of 28.51 to edge out Josias Milan Sirpa Pinto. Marze Rossel then showed his dexterity in 3x3x3 One-Handed, winning the two-round contest with a 14.36 average over Sirpa Pinto's 14.81 and Jhoel Manuel Callata Cardoso's 15.42. Marze Rossel also secured a podium spot in Megaminx, finishing third behind Adrian Ismael Sirpa Pinto and Delgado.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, several solvers posted remarkable breakthroughs after travelling to the gathering. Diego Deibyth Magne Huarachi generated some of the weekend's biggest strides, dropping his 3x3x3 Cube mark to 13.16 seconds, which was 63.3 percent faster than his previous best of 35.86, while cutting his 2x2x2 Cube best down to 6.28 seconds and making his first ever attempt at 4x4x4 Cube with a 2:12.00. Carlos Eduardo Aguilar Robles shaved 32.8 percent off his Pyraminx mark down to 8.48 seconds and logged his first ever attempt at Megaminx in 4:51.77. Abad Santiago Mendizabal Alba took on four events, including a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 54.99 seconds and a 2x2x2 Cube mark of 7.23 seconds.

That spirit of personal growth defined the entire field across every bracket of the competition. Josue Choque Achi dropped his 2x2x2 Cube personal best to 4.34 seconds, improving by 33.9 percent, and lowered his 3x3x3 mark to 13.68 seconds. Kamila Peredo Varahona registered a 25.7 percent improvement with a 3x3x3 Cube best of 29.48 seconds, while Marcos Esteban Tango Aranibar sliced his Pyraminx record to 6.69 seconds. Abner Aron Angulo Ledezma took on seven events, recording his first ever attempt at 5x5x5 Cube in 1:43.55 and improving his Megaminx mark by 15.9 percent to 1:22.61. Making their official debuts, Alex Danner Hinojosa Ulloa entered four events including a 39.06 3x3x3 Cube single, and Jesús Sebastián Guzmán Pacheco recorded a 9.79 2x2x2 Cube debut.

In the short puzzles, Rodrigo Mateo Inochea Fernández earned victory in the 2x2x2 Cube final, posting a winning average of 3.55 seconds to surpass Damián Amilkar Vicente Tordoya and Jhoel Manuel Callata Cardoso. Antonio Adorno Suarez led a fast field in Pyraminx, taking top honours with a 3.42 average and a 2.78 single, ahead of Jhersson Cabezas Luizaga and Henry Ramirez Escobar. Meanwhile, Adrian Ismael Sirpa Pinto dominated Megaminx, taking first place with an impressive 43.15 average.

Mental discipline took centre stage in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, where memorisation and spatial awareness were tested over a single round. Jhoel Manuel Callata Cardoso earned the victory as the only competitor to record a successful sub-four-minute solve, posting a winning single of 3:49.57. Jhersson Cabezas Luizaga took the second spot with a 4:30.64 solve, while the remaining three competitors recorded DNF results in the challenging format.

As the two days of speed cubing wrapped up in 2023, Don Bosco Cubing 2023 demonstrated the depth of talent emerging from the region. The tournament produced compelling 3x3 results alongside dramatic battles in side events, rewarding those who made the journey to Cochabamba. With Bolivian solvers claiming all 32 available podium places across the weekend, the successful WCA competition provided an inspiring foundation for the upcoming competitive calendar.
