The Deqing Big Cubes Summer 2024 gathered 139 competitors at the Deqing International Exhibition Center on August 24, 2024. Across nine total rounds spanning five distinct puzzles, the one-day schedule put high demands on every solver. The event format rewarded consistency, testing who could manage rapid cut structures and sustain pace from early qualifications straight into high-stakes final rounds.

The 3x3 results formed the centerpiece of the tournament, featuring a massive field of 136 competitors battling through three full elimination rounds. The progression of rounds steadily narrowed the field down to the most consistent performers. Zhen Chen earned second place on the podium with a 6.09 average, while Zijian Cai took third place with a 6.32 mark. Navigating three separate rounds in a single day left no room for early errors, pushing competitors to maintain rapid times across multiple consecutive five-solve averages on the classic Rubik's Cube.

Big cubes and specialty puzzles featured tighter qualification structures, demanding immediate precision from the opening turn. Ziyu Wu emerged as the most dominant competitor of the competition, securing a sweep across three separate categories. In the 4x4x4 Cube, which held two rounds for 86 entrants, Wu secured the victory with a 26.20 average and a best single of 21.52. Zijian Cai followed in second place with a 27.22 average, and Xuming Wang locked up third on the podium with a 27.80 result.

The single-round events provided zero margin for calibration, forcing competitors to deliver under instant final conditions. In the 5x5x5 Cube, where 62 solvers faced a direct final, Ziyu Wu captured first place with a 42.88 average alongside a 41.06 single. Zhiyuan Ma claimed second place with a 48.04 average, followed closely by Chen Chen in third with a 48.82. Wu repeated this decisive form in the Megaminx final against 26 entrants, taking the title with a 30.87 average and a 26.54 single, while Zijian Cai placed second at 40.67 and Xu Lu rounded out the podium at 58.57.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors made massive personal breakthroughs across the day. Zihao Shen entered two events and slashed his 3x3x3 Cube personal best to 8.29, an improvement of 72.3 percent from his previous best of 29.89, while also completing a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 15.94. Yongye Zhang took on four events, achieving a best finish of 44th in the 5x5x5 Cube, delivering a 4x4x4 Cube personal best of 33.10 that was 68 percent faster than his prior 1:43.36, alongside first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 17.75 and 5x5x5 Cube at 1:10.82. Mingbo Zhou tackled two disciplines, posting a 6.76 in the 3x3x3 Cube that was 60.7 percent faster than his earlier 17.19 mark, and finished 10th in Megaminx on a first attempt of 1:11.10.

Other solvers expanded their event repertoires across the packed schedule at this WCA competition. Qi Liu entered four categories, taking 23rd in the 5x5x5 Cube, recording first attempts in the 4x4x4 Cube with 39.97 and 5x5x5 Cube with 1:05.41, and improving his 3x3x3 One-Handed mark to 19.10, which was 41.1 percent faster than his old 32.43. Yiyao Yin entered four events, posting a best finish of 11th in the 5x5x5 Cube with a first attempt of 59.08, clocking a first attempt in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 14.61, and lowering his 3x3x3 Cube best to 6.89, an improvement of 32.6 percent. Du Yang took on all five events on offer, securing a best finish of 21st in Megaminx with a first attempt of 1:28.41, logging a first attempt in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 26.22, and cutting his 5x5x5 Cube mark by 20.8 percent to 1:11.29.

The 3x3x3 One-Handed event tested technical versatility over two structured rounds with 75 participants. Zhen Chen captured the gold with an 11.11 winning average and a single of 9.39. Yongjie Yan pressured Chen closely throughout the final, finishing just behind in second place with an 11.18 average. Jiayu Wang rounded out the podium positions with a steady 12.30 average, demonstrating the high level of execution required to navigate two rounds of one-handed speedcubing.

The competitive depth across all disciplines showed in the extensive list of sub-8 averages and sub-6 singles posted during the 3x3x3 Cube rounds. Qixian Cao recorded a 5.76 single and a 5.99 average, while Zhen Chen delivered a 5.87 single and 6.36 average. Yufang Du posted a 4.63 single and 6.46 average in earlier stage action. Muyang Liu added a 5.52 single and 6.63 average, Kaichen Huang marked a 4.28 single and 6.72 average, and Yusheng Du notched a 6.38 single and 6.94 average, with further sub-8 averages registered by Kaicheng Jin, Xuchen Xue, Jiayu Wang, and Zijian Cai.

All fifteen podium placements across the tournament were claimed by competitors representing China, highlighting regional mastery across both short and long puzzles. The efficient organization of Deqing Big Cubes Summer 2024 allowed competitors to transition seamlessly between multi-round sprints and direct single-round finals. 更多的突破在各个项目全面开花。Yuhang Chen (陈宇航)出战4个单项，在三阶单手取得第13名并以10.95秒刷新个人最好成绩，同时五阶与四阶魔方均迎来首次尝试，分别交出1:01.51和37.66秒。Xintian Wang (王欣天)角逐3个项目并在五魔方获得第9名，其五魔方首次尝试录得1:10.76，三阶单手提升29.2%来到15.75秒，三阶成绩也提升8.1%至9.70秒。出战4个项目的Chang Guo (郭畅)在五阶取得第37名，四阶魔方更是大幅提速49.9%达到33.01秒，三阶与单手成绩也分别提升至8.28秒和15.12秒。

在三阶魔方项目中，Qixian Cao (曹岂娴)打出5.76秒单次与5.99秒平均，Zhen Chen (陈震)取得5.87秒单次与6.36秒平均，Muyang Liu (刘慕阳)创造5.52秒单次与6.63秒平均，Kaichen Huang (黄楷宸)斩获4.28秒单次与6.72秒平均，Yusheng Du (杜宇生)录得6.38秒单次与6.94秒平均，Kaicheng Jin (金开诚)交出5.73秒单次与7.23秒平均，Xuchen Xue (薛旭辰)与Jiayu Wang (王佳宇)均交出7.35秒平均，Zijian Cai (蔡子健)取得5.89秒单次与7.45秒平均。15座领奖台席位均被中国选手包揽。
