Magnus Lensch Claims One-Handed Crown as Gerhardt Dominates in DelmenhorstEnglish
The competition floor inside Markthalle Delmenhorst bustled with focused concentration over August 23 and August 24, 2025. Across rows of official timing stations in Delmenhorst, Germany, stacks of mechanical puzzles stood waiting as solvers adjusted their tensioning, rehearsed finger tricks, and reviewed algorithms. A field of 49 competitors gathered for Delmenhorst Dreht Durch 2025 to test their preparation across 9 official disciplines and 22 rounds of intense speedcubing action.
Among the weekend events, the 3x3x3 One-Handed contest stood out as a display of singular technical control. Solving the classic Rubik's Cube with a lone hand demands meticulous grip management, table sliding efficiency, and ergonomic turning that differs drastically from standard two-handed execution. Through three demanding rounds featuring 32 entrants, Magnus Lensch mastered those mechanics to secure first place with a winning average of 10.22 seconds and a best single solve of 9.62. Jonas Pilhöfer claimed the runner-up position with an 11.13 average, while Kevin Gerhardt completed the podium in 13.28.
Kevin Gerhardt delivered a massive series of performances across the weekend program. In the main 3x3x3 Cube event, which drew 45 entrants across three rounds, Gerhardt captured victory with a decisive 6.66 winning average and a top single of 6.09, leading the official 3x3 results. Gerhardt also demonstrated formidable mastery over the larger multi-layered puzzles, collecting first-place finishes in 4x4x4 Cube with a 25.85 average, 5x5x5 Cube in 45.65, and 6x6x6 Cube in 1:28.43. Henri Gerber followed closely in several of these finals, placing second in both 4x4x4 Cube and 6x6x6 Cube, while Jonas Pilhöfer and Magnus Lensch added additional podium hardware in the big cube categories.
Henri Gerber also assembled an extraordinary individual haul across several specialized disciplines at Delmenhorst Dreht Durch 2025. Gerber earned the title in Megaminx with a 37.30 average, narrowly edging Jonas Pilhöfer who finished at 37.54, with Kevin Gerhardt taking third at 39.38. Gerber also claimed top honors in Clock with a 7.29 average, holding off Johanna Szczesny at 7.66 and Rasmus Stub Detlefsen at 8.05. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, where competitors must fully memorize the puzzle before solving in darkness, Gerber led the 22-person field with a 47.02 single, finishing ahead of Anton Schröder at 55.62 and Hannes Müller at 1:10.41.
The Square-1 bracket delivered dramatic finishes as well during the three-round contest. Denmark's Rasmus Stub Detlefsen clinched the gold medal with a 6.84 winning average and an event-best single of 5.74. Maciej Spirydowicz of Poland secured second place with an 8.80 average, and Germany's Hannes Müller took third with 9.52. Across the entire weekend of speed cubing, German competitors secured 22 podium positions, alongside four podium finishes for Denmark and one for Poland.
Behind the medal races, several dedicated competitors produced outstanding individual breakthroughs across the schedule. Tim Spaeth entered the 3x3x3 Cube and cut his personal best by an extraordinary 51.2 percent down to 15.12 seconds. Miko Leander Götze took on three events and earned a 5th place finish in Clock, dropping his Clock personal best by 40.9 percent to 7.24, alongside a 28.9 percent cut in 4x4x4 Cube to 1:10.51 and a 26.8 percent improvement in 3x3x3 Cube to 17.40. Marlin Theo Rasch tackled five events at Delmenhorst Dreht Durch 2025, recording a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 37.21, a first ever attempt at Square-1 in 1:04.54, and a 22.5 percent reduction in his 4x4x4 Cube personal best to 1:13.09. Ole Bobrink entered six disciplines, earning a 7th place finish in Square-1, cutting his Clock mark by 37.1 percent to 9.44, lowering his Square-1 best by 18.5 percent to 10.23, and improving his 4x4x4 time by 16.9 percent to 51.89.
That same spirit of progression defined performances across the blindfolded and specialty events. Yuliya Kudinova contested six events, logging an 11th place finish in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a successful first ever attempt of 11:40.00 while reducing her 5x5x5 Cube mark by 12.1 percent to 2:43.44. The two days of competition highlighted the deep engagement of the local and regional cubing scene across every round. From the delicate ergonomics of one-handed turning to the immense stamina required for the large cubes, this WCA competition offered tests across every facet of modern solving. Delmenhorst Dreht Durch 2025 concluded as a comprehensive celebration of skill, precision, and personal milestones that will carry solvers into the next season of competition.
