The atmosphere across the competition floor was sharp and deliberate, setting the stage for two days of intense speed cubing action in 대구광역시 (Daegu), Korea on February 3 and 4, 2024. Competitors gathered to test their pattern recognition, manual dexterity, and solve routines across six official disciplines.

Mastery of the standard Rubik's Cube demands an extraordinary balance of finger control, spatial foresight, and fluid transitions through complex algorithms. The fundamental mechanics of manipulating three-dimensional layers under extreme time pressure rewarded competitors who maintained clean lookahead and uninterrupted turning across every stage of the solve. With 235 competitors taking part in this major speedcubing gathering, the standard three-layered puzzle served as the ultimate test of foundational technique and raw execution speed.

When the final round concluded, the 3x3 results confirmed DongSoo Park (박동수) at the top of the podium with a winning average of 7.15 seconds, complemented by a best single solve of 6.66 seconds across a massive field of 214 competitors. Seung Hyuk Nahm (남승혁) secured the second position with an average of 7.63 seconds, while Doyul Kim (김도율) matched that exact mark with a 7.63 average to claim third place after three demanding rounds of competition.

Beyond the main event, the larger puzzles showcased dramatic battles between the tournament frontrunners. In the 5x5x5 Cube, Seung Hyuk Nahm (남승혁) claimed first place with a 41.15 average, while DongSoo Park (박동수) took second with 46.97 and Jaemin Chang (장재민) placed third with 49.79. Seung Hyuk Nahm (남승혁) followed with another victory in the 6x6x6 Cube, logging a winning average of 1:06.46 over DongSoo Park (박동수) at 1:29.36 and Minkyu Shin (신민규) at 1:33.70. DongSoo Park (박동수) struck back in the 7x7x7 Cube, posting a winning average of 1:54.24 to beat Seung Hyuk Nahm (남승혁) at 1:56.35 and Minkyu Shin (신민규) at 2:20.67.

Sprint events and specialty categories rounded out the schedule at this WCA competition. The depth of progress continued with Hwang Jiyul (황지율), who took on six events and completed maiden attempts in the 5x5x5 Cube at 1:28.60, the 6x6x6 Cube at 3:34.60, and the 7x7x7 Cube at 5:05.72. Kangmin Ko (고강민) also competed across six disciplines, registering first-time official solves in 3x3x3 Blindfolded at 5:44.51, 6x6x6 Cube at 3:59.69, and 7x7x7 Cube at 6:57.92. Shim Jinbyeol (심진별) took on four events, completing first attempts in the 2x2x2 Cube at 5.76, 5x5x5 Cube at 1:53.57, and 6x6x6 Cube at 4:59.10, while Yunho Chung entered four events, posting debut marks in the 2x2x2 Cube at 10.88, 5x5x5 Cube at 3:05.11, and 6x6x6 Cube at 7:30.21.

With 14 rounds completed across the weekend, Daegu Cold Winter 2024 served as a comprehensive display of technical speedcubing across big cubes, short sprints, and memory challenges. 대구광역시 (Daegu), Korea에 위치한 대구텍스타일콤플렉스 경기장은 주말 내내 큐브가 회전하는 소리와 계측 장비의 긴장감으로 가득 찼습니다. 2024년 2월 3일부터 4일까지 이틀 동안 펼쳐진 Daegu Cold Winter 2024 무대에는 총 235명의 참가자가 모여 6개 종목, 14개 라운드에 걸쳐 뜨거운 승부를 펼쳤습니다. 추운 계절을 무색하게 만든 이번 대회는 스피드큐빙 팬들의 이목을 집중시키며 화려한 기록의 향연을 예고했습니다.
