Daniel Sartori Leads the Field Across Big and Small Cubes at Czech Open 2025English
Ninety-three competitors gathered in Pardubice, Czech Republic, from July 18 to July 20, 2025, to test their speed across 14 events and 31 rounds of play. Staged at the Kongresové centrum IDEON, the Czech Open 2025 delivered three full days of high-level speedcubing action. At the center of the weekend stood Italy's Daniel Sartori, who produced a masterclass across both the standard Rubik's Cube and larger twisty puzzles to establish himself as the defining presence of the tournament.
Sartori secured the premier title of the weekend in the 3x3x3 Cube, navigating three rounds among 88 competitors to take first place with a 6.61 winning average and a best single solve of 5.25 seconds. Czech contender Kryštof Basl pushed the pace closely, earning second place with a 6.85 average, while fellow countryman Max Herink claimed third on a 7.06 average. These standout 3x3 results set the tone for a busy slate of finals at the WCA competition.
Sartori carried his sharp form directly into the 5x5x5 Cube, where 57 entrants battled through three stages. Taking victory with an average of 51.10 seconds and a single of 48.48, Sartori outpaced Czech challengers Tomáš Nguyen, who took second with 55.78, and Kryštof Basl, who finished third with 56.23. Sartori also claimed second place in the 4x4x4 Cube behind Basl, proving his reach across multiple hardware sizes over the course of the competition.
Kryštof Basl put together his own remarkable performance across several disciplines. Basl took top honours in the 4x4x4 Cube with a winning average of 27.12 and a single of 23.55, finishing ahead of Sartori at 29.51 and Nguyen at 30.23. The Czech standout added another victory in the 6x6x6 Cube, recording an average of 1:42.20 and a best single of 1:38.73. Basl also placed third in 3x3x3 One-Handed with 14.34, trailing winner Max Herink at 12.63 and runner-up Alessandro Calzoni at 13.77.
The spotlight away from the top steps belonged to competitors achieving significant personal progress. Lilith Domurad tackled 10 events, taking 22nd in the 7x7x7 Cube, posting a first ever Megaminx attempt of 2:45.43, and trimming her previous marks by over half with a 34.58 single in 3x3x3 One-Handed (60.9% faster) and a 6.99 in Pyraminx (50.5% faster). Czech Open 2025 v Pardubicích prověřil rychlost i přesnost v náročných kolechČeština
Kongresové centrum IDEON v Pardubicích přivítalo od 18. do 20. července 2025 rozsáhlé startovní pole závodníků. Třídenní program nabídl intenzivní závodní atmosféru, kde se u soutěžních stolů střídaly různé typy hlavolamů a časomíry běžely bez přestávky. V hale se sešlo 93 účastníků připravených otestovat své schopnosti v celkem 31 kolech napříč 14 disciplínami. Každý postupový klíč a přísné limity jednotlivých kol určovaly tempo celého podniku v Pardubicích, kde rozhodoval každý detail.
Formát jednotlivých disciplín kladl důraz na stabilitu i rychlost, přičemž největší zájem tradičně vzbudila klasická Rubikova kostka.
