Specialists Shine Across Alternate Disciplines at Cubing on the Hill KY 2025English

The tables inside the Knicely Conference Center were lined with stopwatches, display mats, and a diverse array of twisty puzzles on May 31, 2025. Competitors gathered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA for a full day of head-to-head solving across nine rounds of play. While standard puzzles drew plenty of interest, the event schedule gave center stage to specialized disciplines that demand distinct skill sets, from memorization under a blindfold to the angled rotations of the Skewb.

Cubing on the Hill KY 2025 brought together 60 competitors to test their preparation in five official events. The niche disciplines immediately set the tone for the meeting. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, where competitors must commit the entire puzzle state to memory before donning a blindfold to execute their solution, Micah Morrison delivered the day's benchmark. Morrison topped the field of 11 entrants with a winning single of 49.99 seconds, finishing ahead of Evan Brown at 1:02.91 and Deacon Gale at 1:49.75.

The Skewb event presented its own mechanical challenges, requiring competitors to navigate its deep-cut corner turns at high speed. Evan Brown captured the title across two rounds of play, posting a winning average of 4.33 seconds and securing the event's fastest single solve at 3.66 seconds. Matias Marcantoni-Nunez followed closely in second place with an average of 4.57 seconds, while Knox Chambers rounded out the podium positions with a 5.12-second mark.

The 4x4x4 Cube tested competitors on edge pairing, center building, and parity management across a field of 37 participants. Micah Morrison secured his second victory of the competition, registering a winning average of 28.92 seconds alongside a single solve of 26.66 seconds. Evan Brown earned the runner-up spot with an average of 35.64 seconds, and Javier Gonzalez-Napoleoni claimed third place with a 42.41-second average.

Away from the top steps of the podium, the tournament floor saw significant personal breakthroughs from competitors across the standings. Isaiah Garrison contested four events, cutting his 4x4x4 Cube personal best by 60.9 percent to 44.63 seconds and posting a first ever attempt at Skewb of 3.21 seconds. Donovan McClellan logged four events, taking his 3x3x3 Cube personal best down to 31.79 seconds, an improvement of 57.1 percent, while logging a first ever attempt at Skewb of 21.22 seconds.
