Cubing-on-Hudson AM 2025

Ayden Dincher delivered a commanding performance on June 8, 2025, capturing two event victories and setting the pace with a lightning-quick 1.49 winning average in the 2x2x2 Cube. Held at the James V. Harmon Community Center, the competition brought local supporters together to cheer on a focused roster of talent in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, USA. The morning session highlighted rapid execution and tight match-ups across three distinct puzzle categories, delivering an action-packed atmosphere for everyone watching.

Across the day, Cubing-on-Hudson AM 2025 gathered 27 competitors who contested six rounds of play. While traditional Rubik's Cube solvers often keep an eye out for standard 3x3 results, this specialized program focused entirely on alternative formats. The roster featured high-intensity rounds of the 2x2x2 Cube, Skewb, and Square-1, demanding sharp versatility from every entrant who stepped up to the official timing mats.

Dincher established control early in the 2x2x2 Cube event, navigating three full rounds among 27 competitors to claim top honours with his 1.49 average and a best single of 1.14. Fellow American competitor Chris Chi pressed hard in the final round, locking down second place with a 1.75 average. Shota Fukuoka rounded out the podium in third with a 3.33 average, completing a United States sweep of the top positions in the event.

Dincher continued his winning run in the Skewb event, taking first place across two rounds with a 3.07 winning average and a single of 2.53. Ryan Hughes earned the silver step on the podium by recording a 4.31 average, while Chi secured his second podium finish of the morning with a 5.18 mark for third. The Skewb contest featured 19 competitors and showcased rapid corner-turning solutions throughout the bracket.

The Square-1 competition saw Chris Chi turn the tables to capture a decisive victory. Chi navigated the shapeshifting puzzle with precision, registering a winning average of 7.42 and the round's best single at 6.52 across a field of 15 competitors. Dincher followed in second place with an 8.46 average, and Hughes earned third place with an 11.97 average, giving all three podium places in the event to United States competitors.

Away from the top of the podium, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones across their events. Camilo Agueros delivered a massive breakthrough in Square-1, securing a personal best of 16.04 that was 61.8 percent faster than their prior 41.98 mark, while also finishing fourth overall in Skewb. Sean Rodríguez Antonio made a dramatic leap on Skewb, cutting their previous best from 23.50 down to 8.33 for a 64.6 percent improvement, in addition to making their first official attempt at the 2x2x2 Cube with a 10.62 single.

Other competitors expanded their repertoires and set sharp personal bests across the morning. Charles Miao tackled three events, finishing seventh in Square-1 with a first-time 32.94, making an initial Skewb attempt of 10.87, and lowering their 2x2x2 Cube best by 14.9 percent to 5.42. Ryan Reichardt-Holtorf logged their first Square-1 result with a 1:33.20 while improving their Skewb best to 12.72. Franz Tribelhorn posted a first Square-1 attempt of 49.21 and earned an 8.2 percent personal best of 5.79 in 2x2x2 Cube. Lucas Chen secured tenth in 2x2x2 Cube with a personal best single of 3.62 alongside a first Skewb attempt of 7.53. Eliseo Javier Alarcon took sixth in Skewb and recorded a first Square-1 result of 36.35, while Lucas Valencia notched a fifth-place finish in 2x2x2 Cube with a personal best of 1.70.

For newcomers, this WCA competition served as an ideal introduction to official speed cubing. First-time competitor Austin Yang took on three events, earning tenth in Skewb with a 7.54, alongside debut singles of 43.57 in Square-1 and 6.81 in 2x2x2 Cube. Mustafa Chohan completed first attempts in Skewb at 9.93 and 2x2x2 Cube at 16.93, while Raphael Hakim posted debut marks of 11.23 in Skewb and 5.87 in 2x2x2 Cube. Charles Fischetti also made his debut on the circuit, putting up a 14.04 in the 2x2x2 Cube.

The successful morning closed with nine total podium spots awarded across the three featured disciplines. With smooth organization, intense head-to-head racing, and an enthusiastic home audience, Cubing-on-Hudson AM 2025 demonstrated the high level of regional speedcubing talent in New York as competitors look ahead to their next tournament opportunities.
