Community Camaraderie and Blistering Solves Shine at Cubing in Terredise 2025English

Inside the Student Recreation Center Multi-Activity Court (MAC), the steady rhythm of turning puzzles and the hum of conversations filled the spacious venue floor. Competitors gathered in clusters across the side tables, sharing tips between heats, swapping hardware, and reconnecting with familiar faces. The energy was defined by shared enthusiasm as 64 speedcubers assembled in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA on August 23, 2025, turning a demanding roster of events into a lively gathering of puzzle enthusiasts from across the region.

The one-day WCA competition brought together a packed schedule spanning 5 events and 11 rounds of action. For many, the day was as much about cheering on friends and trying secondary formats as it was about hunting the podium. Side events like the dodecahedral Megaminx and the tactically challenging 3x3x3 One-Handed kept solve stations continuously humming, illustrating the breadth of modern speedcubing disciplines beyond standard two-handed solving.

Leading the charge across multiple categories, Luke Garrett delivered an exceptional display throughout the tournament. In the classic 3x3x3 Cube, Garrett secured top honours with a winning average of 6.12 seconds, boosted by a tournament-best single of 5.07 seconds across three rounds of play. Max Walaszek took the runner-up position with a 7.89 average, while Carson Clark earned third place on the podium with an 8.64 average, anchoring the main 3x3 results of the day.

Garrett extended his dominance into other disciplines, claiming first place in both the 4x4x4 Cube and 3x3x3 One-Handed. On the 4x4x4 Cube, Garrett topped the podium with a 26.50 average and a 23.85 single, finishing ahead of Walaszek, who placed second with 30.81, and Thamaneeswar Sathesh Kumar, who took third with 32.95. In the 3x3x3 One-Handed contest, Garrett captured victory with a 10.40 average, followed once again by Walaszek in second at 15.46 and Sebastian Carrillo in third with 15.80.

The 2x2x2 Cube and Megaminx events featured spectacular finishes of their own. Sujan Feist demonstrated blistering speed on the 2x2x2 Cube, securing the championship title with a winning average of 1.17 seconds, including a sub-second single of 0.77. Kumar grabbed second place with 1.85, and Garrett rounded out the podium with 2.05. Meanwhile, the Megaminx was claimed by Lucy Grace Bryson, who posted a winning average of 40.17 and a sharp 36.05 single, finishing ahead of Garrett in second at 42.45 and Clark in third at 45.81.
