Cubing ATMOSphere 2024

Inside the competition venue at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, timers beeped against a steady rhythm of clattering plastic as seventy-two solvers gathered for two intense days of puzzle solving. The air in Hyderabad, Telangana, India carried the focused tension typical of a premier speedcubing event, where competitors methodically inspected scrambled layers, lubricated hardware, and warmed up their fingers across seventeen rounds of head-to-head play.

Big-cube solving demands an entirely different kind of physical and mental endurance than lightweight sprinting events. As mechanical layers multiply, keeping track of edge pairings and centre alignments requires sustained concentration across dozens of turns per solve. At Cubing ATMOSphere 2024, held on November 9 and 10, 2024, the layered complexities of the 4x4x4 Cube challenged twenty-two entrants to maintain composure through long inspection periods and punishing parity errors.

Hasnain Reza Bilal showcased supreme stamina across the extended puzzles, capturing the 4x4x4 Cube title with a winning average of 33.38 seconds and an event-best single of 30.62 seconds. Bilal established a decisive margin over the field, as Navoneel Ghosh secured second place with a 38.10 average and Shlok Mongia placed third with a 46.31 average. The victory in the multi-layered puzzle set the tone for Bilal's dominant weekend run across multiple formats.

Bilal carried that precise control directly into the marquee classic puzzle, delivering standout 3x3 results in the main Rubik's Cube category. Facing sixty-six competitors across three rounds of 3x3x3 Cube action, Bilal posted a winning average of 7.87 seconds alongside a quick 6.53 single to claim first place. Sambhav Bhalla took second place with a 10.87 average, while Shlok Mongia picked up another podium by finishing third with 11.78 seconds.

The one-handed contest further cemented Bilal's status at this WCA competition, taking the 3x3x3 One-Handed final with an average of 14.65 seconds and a 10.60 single. Velidi Venkata Jagan Mohana Murali Krishna took runner-up honours with a 17.45 average, followed by Navoneel Ghosh in third at 22.97. Across all eight official events, Indian competitors swept all twenty-four available podium spots throughout the tournament.

Beyond the championship trophies, this speed cubing weekend was defined by dramatic progress from athletes across the roster. Sandilya Singeetham made huge headway by dropping their Skewb personal best to 15.29 seconds, a massive 57.2 percent improvement over their prior 35.70 mark, while also shaving their Pyraminx mark down 18.5 percent to 8.06 seconds across five events. Adhvaith Kuntla also secured dramatic personal bests, cutting 53.7 percent from their 2x2x2 Cube time down to 15.13 seconds, taking 29.3 percent off their 3x3x3 time to hit 41.50 seconds, and improving by 11.6 percent in Pyraminx to 11.56 seconds. Ayush Patel dropped their 2x2x2 Cube best by 52.8 percent to 4.09 seconds and notched a 16.77 second personal best in 3x3x3 Cube, which was 13.7 percent faster than before. Anush Venkatasubramanian logged their first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed with a 49.52, their first 2x2x2 Cube solve at 6.53, and slashed their 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 38.2 percent down to 12.11 seconds.

The breakthroughs continued across a variety of complex disciplines throughout the schedule. Jeevan Rohan Arega posted a 29.2 percent improvement in the 3x3x3 Cube to 19.58 seconds alongside a first ever attempt in the 2x2x2 Cube at 9.10 seconds. Abhay Vivek Siddhartha registered a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed at 59.28 seconds, while setting personal bests in 2x2x2 Cube at 7.15 seconds, an improvement of 29.1 percent, and Pyraminx at 14.44 seconds, which was 22.6 percent faster. Sai Skandan Anumala took on six events, achieving a best finish of ninth place in 3x3x3 Cube, recording a first ever attempt at Skewb with a 12.67 single, dropping their 3x3x3 One-Handed mark by 24.4 percent to 31.80, and cutting 5.8 percent off their 4x4x4 Cube best to reach 1:49.22. Saiyam Kothari tackled six events, securing a fourth-place best finish in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a first attempt of 4:39.82, while also posting first career attempts in Skewb at 12.72 and 3x3x3 One-Handed at 1:06.04.

The short sprint events delivered tight podium battles, starting with the 2x2x2 Cube where S Vaibhav Narayan won the title with a 3.40 average, narrowly holding off Shlok Mongia at 3.49 and Tarang Nadgeer at 3.79. In Pyraminx, Panji Thaman captured victory with a 4.12 average, leading Sai Deepak Kalla at 4.78 and Etta Jaswanth Akhil at 5.42. Sai Deepak Kalla turned the tables in Skewb, taking first place with a 6.09 average over Shlok Mongia at 6.17 and Sudhanva Bhoopala Haribhakta at 6.71.

Specialised formats rounded out the schedule with impressive feats of calculation and memory. Etta Jaswanth Akhil conquered the twelve-sided Megaminx, winning the single-round event with a 59.73 average and a 53.40 single, finishing ahead of Akula Sai Kumar at 1:21.48 and Shlok Mongia at 1:43.13. In the 3x3x3 Blindfolded discipline, Karthikeya Abhiram Pemmaraju emerged victorious with a single of 1:24.45, with Dattatreya Chodavarapu taking second in 1:33.09 and Shlok Mongia earning third in 3:19.49.

With seventeen rounds concluded, Cubing ATMOSphere 2024 wrapped up as a comprehensive showcase of precision, endurance, and emerging talent. From long big-cube marathons to lighting-fast side events, the competitive gathering in Hyderabad provided a full test of solver capability as the season moves forward.

Cubing ATMOSphere 2024 का आयोजन Hyderabad, Telangana, India में 9 और 10 नवंबर 2024 को सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हुआ। इस दो दिवसीय cubing competition में कुल 72 प्रतिभागियों ने 8 विभिन्न स्पर्धाओं के 17 राउंड्स में अपनी गति और कौशल का परिचय दिया। वर्ल्ड क्यूब एसोसिएशन द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त इस WCA competition के मंच पर पूरे सप्ताहांत खिलाड़ियों के बीच बेहद रोमांचक और करीबी मुकाबले देखने को मिले।

मुख्य 3x3x3 Cube स्पर्धा में Hasnain Reza Bilal ने शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए 7.87 के विजयी औसत और 6.53 के सर्वश्रेष्ठ सिंगल के साथ पहला स्थान प्राप्त किया। इस स्पर्धा के फाइनल में Sambhav Bhalla 10.87 के औसत के साथ दूसरे और Shlok Mongia 11.78 के औसत के साथ तीसरे पायदान पर रहे। Hasnain Reza Bilal का दबदबा यहीं नहीं रुका और उन्होंने 33.38 के औसत के साथ 4x4x4 Cube का खिताब भी अपने नाम किया जहां Navoneel Ghosh 38.10 के साथ दूसरे तथा Shlok Mongia 46.31 के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे।

इसके अलावा 3x3x3 One-Handed स्पर्धा में भी Hasnain Reza Bilal ने 14.65 का औसत निकालकर सप्ताहांत की अपनी तीसरी खिताबी जीत दर्ज की। इस स्पर्धा के पोडियम पर Velidi Venkata Jagan Mohana Murali Krishna ने 17.45 के औसत के साथ दूसरा और Navoneel Ghosh ने 22.97 के औसत के साथ तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया। एक हाथ से Rubik's Cube को नियंत्रित करने की इस कला में खिलाड़ियों की उंगलियों की गति और टाइमिंग ने हर किसी को प्रभावित किया।

Cubing ATMOSphere 2024 कई अन्य उभरते स्पीडक्यूबर्स के लिए नए मील के पत्थर तय करने का भी अवसर बना। Lalith Sudhanshu Ram Potula ने अपनी पहली प्रतियोगिता में सात स्पर्धाओं का सामना किया और Megaminx में 2:51.90 के पहले आधिकारिक प्रयास के साथ दसवां स्थान पाया। Someshwar Thatipally ने Megaminx में 2:24.92 का समय निकालकर नौवां स्थान प्राप्त किया और 3x3x3 Cube में 18.82 का पहला प्रयास किया। Varun Buchi ने Megaminx में 11वां स्थान हासिल करते हुए 3x3x3 Cube में 37.90 का समय दर्ज किया। Nishan Swain ने भी अपनी पहली प्रतियोगिता में 3x3x3 Cube में 26.38 और 2x2x2 Cube में 7.71 का पहला प्रयास सफलतापूर्वक दर्ज कराया।

सप्ताहांत के अंत तक भारतीय स्पीडक्यूबर्स ने सभी 24 पोडियम स्थानों पर अपना नाम दर्ज कराया। Cubing ATMOSphere 2024 ने विभिन्न क्यूब श्रेणियों में तकनीक, निरंतरता और दबाव के बीच सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन का बेहतरीन संतुलन प्रस्तुत किया। अनुभवी विजेताओं के साथ नए प्रतिस्पर्धियों के व्यक्तिगत सर्वश्रेष्ठ समय ने इस speedcubing प्रतियोगिता को यादगार बना दिया।
