Cubing ATMOSphere 2023

Seventy-six competitors gathered across two days of intense action as rapid turns and split-second decisions defined the competition. Hosted at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus in Hyderabad, Telangana, India from November 4 to November 5, 2023, the event delivered 17 total rounds of high-stakes solving across eight official disciplines. From the first turn to the final solves, speedcubing enthusiasts pushed their technical boundaries in pursuit of personal milestones and top podium finishes.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew a massive field of 72 contenders battling through three demanding rounds to settle the weekend top honours. United States competitor Tarak Sai Musunuri took the championship with a blistering winning average of 8.23 seconds alongside a best single solve of 7.02 seconds. Hasnain Reza Bilal of India captured second place with an average of 8.79 seconds, while Aakash Jebakumar took third on an 8.96 average, ensuring the final 3x3 results remained tight until the very end.

The blistering pace carried over directly into the 2x2x2 Cube, where 57 competitors fought across three rapid-fire rounds. Shlok Mongia topped the field with a superb winning average of 3.13 seconds, highlighted by a sharp single effort of 2.01 seconds. Tarak Sai Musunuri chased closely behind to secure second place with a 3.29 average, while Rishab Jain rounded out the podium in third position on a 3.48 average, delivering another thrilling spectacle for the fans following the classic Rubik's Cube variants.

Across the other speed disciplines, competitors showed exceptional mastery in both classic and modern categories. Sai Ashvik Reddy Velagala clinched the Skewb crown with a 4.63 winning average and a top single of 2.92, finishing ahead of Tarak Sai Musunuri at 5.40 and Shlok Mongia at 5.75. In Pyraminx action, Mohith B earned the victory with a 4.36 average, holding off Sai Deepak Kalla at 4.68 and Tarak Sai Musunuri at 4.72 across two rounds of sharp turning.

The larger puzzles and complex variants expanded the competitive spread throughout the schedule. Hasnain Reza Bilal captured the 4x4x4 Cube title with a commanding 30.49 average and a 26.70 single, finishing clear of Tarak Sai Musunuri at 40.13 and Navoneel Ghosh at 42.09. Musunuri responded by taking first place in Megaminx with a 1:21.71 average ahead of Mohith B and Anish Sanjay Badithe, while also collecting victory in 3x3x3 One-Handed on a 14.47 average ahead of Bilal and Sambhav Bhalla.

Beyond the championship trophies, this WCA competition saw incredible progression from athletes who made huge strides on the competition floor. Rithvik Kasam took on seven events, recording a fourth-place finish in 3x3x3 One-Handed, a first attempt in Megaminx at 1:35.53, a Pyraminx personal best of 3.20 seconds that improved by 63.8 percent, and a 4x4x4 Cube personal best of 1:04.76 that dropped by 48.3 percent. Enukurthi Satvik tackled four events, making first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 25.09 and 4x4x4 Cube at 1:10.82, while slashing their 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 33.7 percent to 3.81. Muvvala Pavan Srikar entered three events, cutting their Pyraminx best by 32.6 percent to 9.90 and their 3x3x3 best to 13.08. Rishik Naidu Vaddey contested six events, placing 16th in Megaminx, logging a first 3x3x3 One-Handed attempt of 1:01.16, and lowering their 3x3x3 best by 21.4 percent to 21.57.

That same drive was evident across multiple categories as more competitors expanded their repertoires and set new personal standards. Suvarna Pushkar competed in four events, delivering first career attempts in Skewb with 9.91 and 2x2x2 Cube with 6.67 alongside a 21.3 percent personal best reduction in 3x3x3 Cube to 20.48. Pranav Patro handled five events, logging a first 3x3x3 One-Handed solve of 31.85 and improving their Skewb mark by 17.5 percent to 10.61. Saiyam Kothari registered three events, attempting 4x4x4 Cube for the first time at 1:08.39 and dropping their 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 12.9 percent to 14.12. Jaini Shashank took on three events, completing a first 2x2x2 Cube attempt of 14.44 while trimming their 3x3x3 Cube best by 12.9 percent to 36.29 and Pyraminx best by 8.3 percent to 12.62.

The 3x3x3 Blindfolded discipline demanded immense memory work and poise, resulting in a memorable victory for Vivek Prasad Mada who averaged 1:06.36 and secured a 58.96 single. Gaurav Bachani claimed second place on a 1:29.88 average, while Dattatreya Chodavarapu took third on a 1:22.70 mark. Overall, Indian competitors captured 17 podium spots while United States solvers earned seven.

As the final timers stopped, Cubing ATMOSphere 2023 demonstrated the depth of talent currently thriving within the speed cubing scene. Every round pushed solve times down and raised standards across each bracket. Solvers now head back to practice tables, carrying new benchmarks and lessons into the next season of competitive cubing competition.

हैदराबाद के BITS Pilani कैंपस में आयोजित स्पीडक्यूबिंग प्रतियोगिता का माहौल बेहद रोमांचक रहा। 4 और 5 नवंबर 2023 को आयोजित इस दो दिवसीय आयोजन में देश-विदेश के 76 प्रतियोगियों ने विभिन्न श्रेणियों में अपनी गति और एकाग्रता का प्रदर्शन किया। क्यूब्स के घूमने की लगातार आवाज और टाइमर पर तेजी से रुकती उंगलियों ने पूरे सभागार को ऊर्जावान बनाए रखा। इस प्रतियोगिता में कुल 8 विभिन्न इवेंट्स और 17 राउंड्स का सफल आयोजन किया गया, जहां रुबिक्स क्यूब के माहिरों ने अपनी पूरी क्षमता का प्रदर्शन किया।

इस पूरे सप्ताहांत में अनुभवी प्रतियोगियों का अनुभव साफ तौर पर उनके नतीजों में नजर आया। मुख्य 3x3x3 Cube इवेंट में Tarak Sai Musunuri ने अपनी पुरानी लय दिखाते हुए शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किया। उन्होंने फाइनल राउंड में 8.23 सेकंड का बेहतरीन औसत और 7.02 सेकंड का बेस्ट सिंगल समय दर्ज कर खिताबी जीत दर्ज की। उनके ठीक पीछे Hasnain Reza Bilal रहे जिन्होंने 8.79 सेकंड का औसत निकालकर दूसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया, जबकि Aakash Jebakumar 8.96 सेकंड के औसत के साथ तीसरे पायदान पर रहे।

Tarak Sai Musunuri ने केवल मुख्य इवेंट तक ही अपने दबदबे को सीमित नहीं रखा। 3x3x3 One-Handed इवेंट में उन्होंने 14.47 सेकंड के औसत और 11.23 के बेस्ट सिंगल के साथ पहला स्थान अर्जित किया, जबकि Hasnain Reza Bilal ने 15.40 के औसत के साथ दूसरा स्थान पाया। वहीं Megaminx इवेंट में भी Tarak Sai Musunuri ने 1:21.71 का औसत दर्ज कर शीर्ष स्थान पाया। इस प्रतियोगिता में Tarak Sai Musunuri ने कई श्रेणियों में पोडियम पर जगह बनाकर अपनी बेहतरीन तैयारी का परिचय दिया।

4x4x4 Cube स्पर्धा में Hasnain Reza Bilal ने जबरदस्त प्रदर्शन करते हुए 30.49 सेकंड के औसत और 26.70 के बेस्ट सिंगल के साथ पहला स्थान हासिल किया। Tarak Sai Musunuri 40.13 सेकंड के औसत के साथ दूसरे स्थान पर रहे, वहीं Navoneel Ghosh 42.09 सेकंड के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे। 2x2x2 Cube स्पर्धा में Shlok Mongia ने 3.13 सेकंड का विजयी औसत निकालकर पहला स्थान पाया, जबकि Tarak Sai Musunuri 3.29 सेकंड के साथ दूसरे और Rishab Jain 3.48 सेकंड के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे।

Pyraminx इवेंट में Mohith B ने 4.36 सेकंड के औसत और 3.77 के बेस्ट सिंगल के साथ खिताबी जीत दर्ज की। Sai Deepak Kalla 4.68 के औसत से दूसरे स्थान पर रहे। Skewb इवेंट में Sai Ashvik Reddy Velagala ने 4.63 के औसत और 2.92 सेकंड के सिंगल के साथ पहला स्थान पाया। 3x3x3 Blindfolded इवेंट में Vivek Prasad Mada ने अपनी जबरदस्त याददाश्त का प्रदर्शन करते हुए 1:06.36 का औसत और 58.96 सेकंड का बेस्ट सिंगल निकालकर जीत हासिल की।

परिणामों की मुख्य तालिका से परे कई खिलाड़ियों ने अपने व्यक्तिगत प्रदर्शन में अभूतपूर्व सुधार दर्ज किया। Ankit Sharma ने 6 इवेंट्स में हिस्सा लेते हुए Skewb में 6.59 सेकंड का नया व्यक्तिगत रिकॉर्ड बनाया, जो उनके पिछले समय से 48.5 प्रतिशत तेज था और 4x4x4 Cube में वे नौवें स्थान पर रहे। Subrahmanya Aditya Bhagavathula ने 2x2x2 Cube में 3.61 सेकंड का समय निकालकर 25.4 प्रतिशत का सुधार किया और 3x3x3 Cube में 16.56 सेकंड का समय लेकर 10.7 प्रतिशत सुधार दर्ज किया। Harpreet Singh ने 6 इवेंट्स में भाग लिया और पहली बार 3x3x3 One-Handed में 58.09 सेकंड का समय दर्ज किया। Ramisetti Pranav Abhiram ने भी अपने पहले प्रयास में 3x3x3 One-Handed में 33.25 सेकंड का मजबूत समय हासिल किया।

इसके साथ ही पहली बार किसी आधिकारिक WCA competition में हिस्सा ले रहे नए खिलाड़ियों ने भी प्रभावशाली शुरुआत की। Rohil Riyaz Dewani ने 7 स्पर्धाओं में भाग लेते हुए 3x3x3 Cube में 26.47, Pyraminx में 10.67 और 2x2x2 Cube में 6.57 सेकंड का समय दर्ज किया। Ayush Patel ने 4 इवेंट्स में उतरते हुए 2x2x2 Cube में 8.66, Skewb में 25.80 और Pyraminx में 14.20 का समय निकाला। Nikshit Telagamsetty ने 3x3x3 Cube में 30.89, Pyraminx में 14.60 और 2x2x2 Cube में 8.55 का समय अपने पहले प्रयास में दर्ज किया। वहीं Yekkanti Sai Vivek ने 3x3x3 Cube में 15.68, 2x2x2 Cube में 5.90 और Pyraminx में 13.66 सेकंड का समय हासिल कर बेहतरीन खेल दिखाया।

हैदराबाद, तेलंगाना, भारत में आयोजित Cubing ATMOSphere 2023 का समापन पोडियम पर भारतीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय खिलाड़ियों के शानदार संतुलन के साथ हुआ। भारत के प्रतियोगियों ने कुल 17 पोडियम स्थान हासिल किए जबकि संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के हिस्से 7 पोडियम स्थान आए। नए और पुराने सभी स्पीडक्यूबर्स के इस बेजोड़ संगम ने आने वाले सत्र के लिए एक शानदार मिसाल पेश की।
