Jose Basaes Claims Five Titles as CubiKonce 2026 Concludes in ChileEnglish

Jose Basaes delivered a commanding display at the Biblioteca Municipal de Concepción across May 2 and May 3, sweeping five separate events to anchor an action-packed weekend. The gathering brought 42 competitors together across 10 events and 21 rounds, establishing a vibrant cubing competition atmosphere in the Bío Bío region. While intellectual puzzle events often contrast sharply with the raw velocity of standard turns, the tournament in Concepción, Chile showcased the full dynamic spectrum of modern speedcubing, running through fast-paced short-format puzzles all the way to intricate big cube finals.

The classic 3x3x3 Cube contest stood at the center of attention, where Basaes secured the championship with a winning average of 7.51 seconds and a best single of 6.96. The battle for the podium went down to mere fractions of a second, with Gabriel Alonso Ibáñez Miranda taking second place on a 7.71 average and Dante Navarro Vera capturing third with an 8.86 mark. These standout 3x3 results capped a 37-competitor field that required three intense rounds to determine the champion, giving local followers a memorable display of classic Rubik's Cube mastery under tournament conditions during 2026.

Basaes expanded his dominance across the larger mechanisms, winning every multi-layered event on the schedule. In the 4x4x4 Cube, his 32.41 average earned the title ahead of Sebastián Urbina at 33.47 and Ibáñez Miranda at 33.55. Moving to the 5x5x5 Cube, Basaes broke the minute barrier with a 58.14 average, outpacing Urbina and Ibáñez Miranda once again. The momentum carried directly into the 6x6x6 Cube, which Basaes claimed in 1:54.27 over Navarro Vera, before finishing his sweep in the 7x7x7 Cube with a 3:11.88 average, edging Diego Barrera by eleven hundredths of a second.

Specialty puzzles provided thrilling variety and a historic milestone at CubiKonce 2026. In Clock, Bruno Eduardo Alarcón Coloma took first place with a 6.40 average, but it was second-place finisher Dante Navarro Vera who generated the biggest headline of the round by establishing a new Chilean national record average of 4.07 seconds. In Square-1, Manuel Ernesto Torres Vega secured victory with an 11.60 mark, ahead of Barrera and Basaes.

Shorter sprint events brought blistering speed cubing to the table. Gabriel Alonso Ibáñez Miranda captured the 2x2x2 Cube title with a blistering 1.79 average, having set a tournament-best single of 1.23 seconds along the way. Basaes secured the runner-up position in the event with a 2.35 average, while Pedro Agustín Mora Pérez locked in third place with a 3.16 average.
