Ryan Pilat delivered a masterclass across six different disciplines on the campus of The University of Texas at Dallas, capturing a commanding sweep of victories on home soil. His defining triumph came at the 3x3x3 Cube table, where he posted a decisive 7.35 winning average alongside a blistering 6.05 single to claim the premier crown. The two-day gathering on November 15–16 brought together 92 competitors for Cube On in Richardson 2025, turning the venue into a vibrant showcase of world-class Rubik's Cube mastery and elite tactical control.

The 3x3 results formed the centerpiece of the program, with Pilat standing atop a fiercely contested 89-person field across three rounds. Behind him on the podium, Azhar Virani took second place with a 7.91 average, while Dev McElroy earned third with an 8.16 mark. Pilat carried that momentum into the 2x2x2 Cube, blazing through two rounds of competition to seize first place with a 1.68 winning average and a 1.07 single. Canada's Jonathan Ji Xiang took second with 2.44, while McElroy collected another bronze with a 2.67 average.

Pilat's versatility was evident across both mechanical challenges and endurance puzzles throughout the WCA competition. In 3x3x3 One-Handed, he secured victory with a 12.73 average and a 10.76 single, besting Jose Ortiz Jr. at 15.73 and Virani at 17.23. The 4x4x4 Cube saw Pilat finish first again with a 26.73 average and 24.37 single, ahead of Virani in second at 30.32 and Nixin Wong in third at 34.30. In Megaminx, Maddox Smith claimed the title with a 38.04 average and 35.45 single, finishing ahead of Ortiz Jr. at 41.63 and Pilat in third at 43.85.

The blindfolded disciplines provided some of the most remarkable technical performances of the entire weekend in Richardson, Texas, USA. Pilat claimed the 3x3x3 Blindfolded title with a 19.10 single and added a sixth gold in 5x5x5 Blindfolded, achieving a winning average of 8:32.39 and an 8:02.49 single. Meanwhile, Joshua Gao delivered sensational memory feats, winning 4x4x4 Blindfolded in 2:24.47 ahead of Pilat's 4:09.37, before capturing 3x3x3 Multi-Blind with 45 out of 58 puzzles solved in 58:38.

In the Clock event, Samuel Threlkeld edged out a tight field across two rounds, securing the title with a 5.87 average and 5.39 single. Vyom Sharma followed in second place with 5.90, and Jaxon Sensabaugh rounded out the podium at 6.01. Overall, United States competitors claimed 30 podium positions, with Canadian entrants capturing two and India securing one. Across 10 events and 17 rounds, the speed cubing battle demonstrated exceptional depth across both standard speed events and specialist disciplines.

Beneath the championship titles, the weekend celebrated massive personal breakthroughs from athletes pushing their limits in Richardson. Minh Tran achieved an extraordinary 65.9 percent personal best improvement in 3x3x3 One-Handed with a 28.47 mark, while shaving 18.5 percent off Clock down to 10.87 and taking on a first ever attempt at 4x4x4 Cube in 1:07.19. Dawson Robert cut 58.7 percent off their one-handed best with 33.49, halved their standard 3x3 time down by 53.7 percent to 17.09, and logged a first ever 2x2x2 Cube attempt of 5.21. Nolan Varela dropped their 4x4x4 Cube best by 41.2 percent down to 1:00.90 while trying Megaminx for the first time in 1:57.06.

Other competitors took on expanded slates and new challenges with equal dedication. Benjamin Vallejo logged a first attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 21.56, tried 4x4x4 Cube in 2:18.77, and improved their 2x2x2 best by 33.1 percent to 2.00 on the way to a 7th place finish. Mark Le recorded a first Megaminx attempt in 2:55.49 and improved their one-handed mark by 31.3 percent to 53.85 across six events. Jerome Francis tackled 4x4x4 Cube for the first time in 1:04.94 while cutting 25.7 percent off their one-handed best down to 25.09. First-time tournament entrants Creed Johnson and Liam Gomez made their debuts, with Johnson taking on four events including an 11.89 3x3 single, and Gomez contesting three events including a 5.79 2x2x2 single.

The 2025 speedcubing schedule in Texas reached a memorable peak at Cube On in Richardson 2025. With a vast spectrum of events ranging from lightning-fast sprints on mechanical puzzles to complex memory marathons, the cubing competition celebrated individual progression at every level.
