High Stakes and Tight Margins Define CSC Decimo Aniversario - FP UNA 2025English

Five competitors stepped up to the tables for blindfolded solving, and the unforgiving nature of the discipline quickly made itself felt. In blindfolded events, where competitors inspect the puzzle, place a blindfold over their eyes, and solve entirely from memory, any small miscalculation results in a Did Not Finish. The format leaves zero margin for error. Rodolfo Federico Canatta Parodi proved to be the only competitor in the field to secure a successful solve, taking victory with a single of 5:16.58. The remaining four contenders—David Arturo Díaz, Felipe Julián Pellerano, Gustavo Riveiro, and Carlos Benjamin Mereles Martinez—each recorded a DNF in the final standings.

Held on October 25, 2025, CSC Decimo Aniversario - FP UNA 2025 brought together 76 competitors at the Facultad Politécnica - Universidad Nacional de Asunción. The gathering in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, featured 4 events across 5 rounds of intense speedcubing action. Competitors pushed their limits across traditional solving, one-handed control, and minimal-move efficiency. The atmosphere throughout the cubing competition reflected both the precision demanded by technical disciplines and the fast-paced energy of standard speed cubing rounds.

The 3x3x3 Fewest Moves contest also demanded extreme discipline, challenging entrants to find the most efficient solution within an hour. José Chávez mastered the challenge to take first place with a single of 38 moves. Gustavo Riveiro claimed second place by finding a 40-move solution, while Milko Sebastián Gutiérrez Arroyo secured third place on the podium with 45 moves. In this strategic event, every unnecessary turn directly impacts the standing, making patience and calculation just as valuable as physical turning speed.

In the flagship 3x3x3 Cube event, Martin Alejandro Benítez López captured top honors across two rounds of play. Benítez López delivered a winning average of 8.50 seconds and posted the fastest single of the entire tournament at 7.35 seconds to lead the 3x3 results among 73 entrants. David Emmanuel Velozo Cabrera finished in second place with an average of 10.35 seconds, followed by Manuel Ferreira de Cordoue in third place with an average of 11.15 seconds. The classic Rubik's Cube final capped a full schedule of high-level solving.

The one-handed contest brought another demanding discipline to the stage, requiring competitors to execute complex algorithms using only a single hand. Kenji Julián Cáceres Matsumoto won the 3x3x3 One-Handed event by registering a 15.46-second average, along with a best single of 13.32 seconds. David Emmanuel Velozo Cabrera earned another podium spot on the day by taking second place with an 18.84 average, while Martin Alejandro Benítez López finished third with an average of 20.46 seconds.

Beyond the podium finishes, the tournament featured remarkable individual breakthroughs across the floor. Micaela Noemí Ortiz Oviedo delivered one of the weekend's biggest leaps, recording a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 19.78 seconds, which was 39.3 percent faster than her previous mark of 32.59. Arturo Domingo Cattebeke Fattorini also made a dramatic improvement in the same event, cutting his personal record down to 21.53 seconds for a 35.6 percent drop. In the 3x3x3 One-Handed division, Andrés Gaete Ledesma earned a strong 4th-place finish behind a personal best of 17.18 seconds, improving by 14.9 percent, while Ian Xavier Brice posted a personal best of 45.35 seconds for a 13.1 percent improvement.

First-time experiences and new event attempts also highlighted the depth of the field. Jonas Gauto entered their first WCA competition and marked the milestone with a 30.92-second attempt in the 3x3x3 Cube. Michael Báez likewise took on their first official tournament, logging a personal record single of 18.79 seconds and an average of 21.17 in the 3x3x3 Cube. Meanwhile, Guillermo Adrián Otaño tackled his first attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed to notch a 27.08 while lowering his 3x3x3 Cube personal best to 11.81 seconds. Fabrizio Daniel Rojas Galeano took on two events and recorded his first official 3x3x3 One-Handed solve at 30.47 seconds.

A total of 14 podium positions were awarded across the competition, with Paraguay capturing 13 places alongside 1 podium finish for Argentina. CSC Decimo Aniversario - FP UNA 2025 showcased the full spectrum of competitive cubing, from the high-stakes risk of blindfolded solving to the steady progress of new solvers establishing their marks for the next season.
