Fierce Depth and Multiple Titles Define Clockholm Open 2023 in TumbaEnglish
The competition floor inside Tumba Gymnasium was packed with focused activity on March 11, 2023, as timers started and stopped in rapid succession across the tables. Warm-up cubes turned continuously in the staging areas while score-runners carried covered puzzles between the scrambling stations and competitors. In Tumba, Sweden, the single-day gathering brought together 46 competitors for a full schedule of 12 rounds across five official events, creating a demanding atmosphere where advancing through the brackets required absolute consistency.
Reaching a final round proved to be a formidable challenge throughout the day, as deep qualification brackets left little room for error. The standard 3x3x3 Cube drew all 46 participants across three rigorous stages of competition, demanding sharp performances from the morning onward. Similar pressure defined the preliminary rounds of the other disciplines, where dozens of entrants vied for only a handful of advancement slots. With competitors traveling from across Sweden and Denmark, the high concentration of talent kept the qualification cutoffs tight across every puzzle type.
The classic Rubik's Cube featured three rounds of intense action that culminated in a tightly contested final. Alve Carlqvist secured the victory in the 3x3 results, delivering a winning average of 8.88 seconds alongside a best single solve of 8.32 seconds. Daniel Wallin pressed hard throughout the final round, finishing in second place with an 8.97 average. Leo Lindqvist completed the podium in third place with an average of 9.95 seconds, capping off a premier event that tested every finalist through three rounds of high-pressure solving.
Daniel Wallin delivered a standout day by capturing three distinct titles across the schedule. In the Pyraminx competition, which featured 40 entrants over two rounds, Wallin earned first place with a winning average of 3.20 seconds and a single solve of 2.97. Alvar Nylén followed in second place with a 4.77 average, while Denmark's Thomas Mæhle Schmidt took third with a 5.15 average. Wallin added another championship in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, winning with a single time of 27.70 seconds ahead of Joel Lundström at 1:18.59 and Schmidt at 1:19.03, where memorisation and flawless execution under the blindfold decided the outcome.
Wallin completed his triple crown in the Clock event, navigating three rounds among 31 competitors to claim top honors with a winning average of 5.65 seconds and a single of 4.54. Emil Elghorn finished second with a 6.55 average, while Joel Lundström took third at 8.36. In the 2x2x2 Cube, Leo Lindqvist claimed the victory with a 1.73 average and a 1.69 single across two rounds of 41 competitors. Tumba Gymnasium samlade kubeliten under Clockholm Open 2023Svenska
