Specialists Shine Across Alternate Disciplines at Chekaad Autumn 2023English
A total of 107 competitors gathered at the Ferdowsi Hotel on November 2, 2023, as Chekaad Autumn 2023 brought high-stakes solving across nine intense rounds. While standard puzzles drew packed fields, the specialty events quickly seized the spotlight in Tehran (تهران), Iran. Enthusiasts of speedcubing followed every turn closely as participants tackled a diverse set of challenges that demanded distinct technical styles and finger dexterity across both classic and alternate formats.
The 3x3x3 One-Handed event delivered one of the day's tightest and most thrilling conclusions. With 27 solvers stepping up to solve using only a single hand, precision turning was essential to avoid costly lockups. He narrowly held off runner-up Arian Geravandi, who recorded a 15.27 average, while Mohammad Yahooei secured third place with a mark of 15.36 seconds in a remarkably close final round.
In the Pyraminx division, 34 competitors took on the triangular puzzle across two competitive rounds. Fateme Vosoughi set the standard with exceptional tip manipulation and quick transitions, winning the event with a dominant 3.27-second average and a best single of 2.78. Amir Hossein Nafisi claimed the silver medal with a solid 3.98 average, followed by Mohammad Soroush Hoseini in third with an average of 4.30. Vosoughi's commanding performance highlighted how specialized turning mechanics separate the top contenders in non-cubic events.
The 2x2x2 Cube competition featured pure burst speed from 65 competitors over two rapid rounds. Sam Mehmani captured first place with an impressive 2.00-second winning average, backed by a lightning-fast single of 1.31 seconds. This high-velocity cubing competition saw all 12 podium places across the four disciplines claimed by athletes representing Iran.
The traditional 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube brought out the largest bracket of the day, drawing 101 competitors through three full rounds.
