Specialist Disciplines Take Center Stage at Central Washington Odds 2025English
Six events and eleven rounds brought nineteen dedicated puzzle solvers together under one roof on April 13, 2025. Held at the Central Washington University Nicholson Pavilion in Ellensburg, Washington, USA, the gathering focused on odd-layered cubes and alternative solving disciplines. Rather than following the conventional routine, this cubing competition gave top billing to demanding formats like the massive 7x7x7 Cube, the twelve-sided Megaminx, and the memory test of the 3x3x3 Blindfolded round, drawing dedicated talent to Central Washington.
The 7x7x7 Cube served as one of the weekend's primary showcases, requiring competitors to manage hundreds of tiny pieces over grueling multi-minute efforts. Kevin Hays took command of the event, recording a winning average of 2:10.15 across the single-round final. Hays also posted the event's fastest single solve of 2:08.08, setting the benchmark for the eleven entrants. Vikram Haldar claimed second place with an average of 3:08.81, while Quan Trần Thanh Lương rounded out the podium with a 3:11.86 average.
Another featured discipline was the Megaminx, where Vikram Haldar captured the title with a winning average of 51.65. Haldar locked in the fastest single of the contest at 49.31 on his way to victory across two competitive rounds. Ethan George Hayes secured the runner-up spot with an average of 57.65, and TJ Leing placed third with an average of 59.73. The intricate twelve-sided puzzle tested the stamina and pattern recognition of nine entrants in Ellensburg.
The blindfolded discipline introduced another layer of technical precision to the WCA competition schedule, requiring competitors to memorize the puzzle state before donning a blindfold to execute the solve. Dylan O'Meara earned victory in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded contest with a winning single time of 1:32.64. Ethan George Hayes finished second with a successful solve of 2:08.09, and Kyle Polage took third place with a time of 2:45.87 among the eight contenders.
Single-handed solving also highlighted the technical depth of the weekend. Ethan George Hayes prevailed in the 3x3x3 One-Handed event, securing the gold with an average of 11.87 and registering a best single solve of 11.27. Nicholas Lopez claimed the silver medal with a 15.52 average, followed by Vikram Haldar in third at 15.75. The discipline demonstrated the balance of dexterity and algorithmic knowledge needed to control standard hardware with a single hand.
Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones during Central Washington Odds 2025. Aaron Joel Solis recorded a personal best single of 22.77 seconds in the 3x3x3 Cube, improving by 62.9 percent over his previous mark of 1:01.40. Titus Francis took on five events, logging a personal best of 1:35.47 in 5x5x5 Cube, which was 41.6 percent faster than his prior time, and set an initial mark of 6:02.47 in his first ever attempt at 7x7x7 Cube. Mingchu Gao trimmed 40.3 percent from their 3x3x3 personal best down to 13.03 and registered a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed with a time of 33.24.

Standard Rubik's Cube speedcubing brought the tournament to a close with intense head-to-head racing across three full rounds of play. Vikram Haldar captured the 3x3x3 Cube victory with a winning average of 8.31, barely edging Ethan George Hayes who finished at 8.35. Dylan O'Meara secured third place with an average of 10.31, while Haldar also supplied the fastest single solve of the entire weekend at 6.08 seconds during the early rounds of the 3x3 results bracket.
The 5x5x5 Cube saw another tight contest between the weekend's primary contenders. Vikram Haldar earned his third event win of the tournament with an average of 1:01.73 and a single time of 53.89. Ethan George Hayes took second with an average of 1:02.06, and Quan Trần Thanh Lương took third in 1:02.21. With eleven rounds across six disciplines completed, Central Washington Odds 2025 concluded a full day of high-level speed cubing in the Pacific Northwest.
