The victory highlighted a bustling schedule at the Central Visayas Championship 2025, held at SM City Cebu in Cebu, Philippines on June 7 and 8, 2025. Across two full days of high-intensity speedcubing, 62 competitors tested their skills across 13 distinct puzzle disciplines and 18 rounds, transforming the venue into a celebration of mechanical problem-solving.
The range of events extended well beyond the traditional Rubik's Cube, requiring competitors to adapt quickly between vastly different mechanisms. Ace Djun T. Aguirre Jr. showcased remarkable range across specialty formats, capturing gold in Pyraminx with a 4.39 winning average, Megaminx with a 51.38 mark, and Square-1 with a 14.96 average. Aguirre added podium finishes in both the 4x4x4 Cube and 5x5x5 Cube, proving his mastery over geometric puzzles of entirely different axis layouts and turning styles.
Big cubes demanded endurance and precision, and Neo Cuares rose to the challenge by sweeping three of the longest formats. Cuares secured titles in the 5x5x5 Cube with a 49.07 average, the 6x6x6 Cube in 1:43.74, and the 7x7x7 Cube with a 2:25.60 average. His versatility also extended down to shorter events, where he took victory in 3x3x3 One-Handed with an average of 10.29 seconds and claimed second place behind Borromeo in the marquee 3x3x3 event.
