Big Cubes and Lightning Sprints Headline Action in JakartaEnglish

The tournament hall at SMA Kolese Kanisius Jakarta hummed with activity as 76 competitors gathered across two full days of competition. Solve stations, timers, and judging mats filled the space while stacks of puzzles waited for inspection. Over the November 4 to November 5 weekend, the venue played host to nine separate events spanning twenty-three intense rounds, bringing together puzzle enthusiasts from across Jakarta, Indonesia, and beyond for an expansive speedcubing showcase.

Stepping up to larger mechanisms always tests stamina and hardware control, where managing dozens of moving parts demands absolute precision over long solving sequences. At Canisius College Weekend 2023, the 4x4x4 Cube served as the supreme test of big-cube execution. Navigating center building and edge pairing through three competitive rounds, Leon Marcell Alamanda claimed top honors in the final with a 30.10 winning average and an event-best single of 21.48. Muhammad Faeyza Koda pushed hard in second place at 30.81, while Angeline Wijaya took third with an average of 36.29.

Leon Marcell Alamanda translated that same mechanical control into triumphs across multiple short-format puzzles during the 2023 gathering. In Skewb, Alamanda captured first place with an average of 3.26 and a best single of 2.76 across three rounds. Moving over to Clock, Alamanda secured yet another gold with an 8.16 winning average and a 6.64 single, holding off Muhammad Deffa Akhtar at 9.24 and Gerson Natanael at 9.26 in the two-round contest.

The classic Rubik's Cube drew the largest field of the weekend, with 68 solvers entering the main 3x3x3 Cube event. When the final 3x3 results were tallied, Muhammad Faeyza Koda took the championship with a 7.31 winning average and a 6.00 single. Leon Marcell Alamanda finished in the runner-up position with a 7.53 average, and Erick Ethan Mula completed the podium in third at 8.55 after three hard-fought rounds.
