Baruch Adler Sets Israeli Clock Records as Ben Baron Secures Double Gold in Be'er Ya'akovEnglish

Baruch Adler delivered the defining moment of C.S.M. Israel 2024 by establishing a new Israeli national record single of 3.58 seconds alongside a national record average of 4.03 seconds in Clock. The breakthrough performance elevated the high-stakes tournament in Be'er Ya'akov, Israel, where 47 competitors gathered on May 3, 2024, to contest eight rounds across three specialised disciplines. With championship tension running throughout the Atid youth village venue, every turn carried heavy weight as the regional speedcubing community chased national milestones and decisive final podium spots.

Held across a single action-packed day, C.S.M. Israel 2024 diverted from standard classic rounds to focus entirely on specialty events. Fans accustomed to tracking standard Rubik's Cube brackets and standard 3x3 results instead saw intense battles on the circular faces of Clock, the intricate layers of Megaminx, and the challenging shape-shifting geometries of Square-1. Across 47 competitors, the field produced top-tier performances, resulting in all nine podium placements remaining with solvers from Israel.

Ben Baron emerged as the most decorated competitor of the weekend by capturing two tournament titles and securing three top-two finishes overall. In Clock, Baron topped the 46-competitor roster across three grueling rounds, sealing victory in the finals with a winning average of 4.71 seconds following a best single of 3.83 seconds. Baruch Adler claimed second place on the podium with a 5.99 average, while Yoel Khanin secured third with an average of 6.37 seconds.

Ben Baron extended his winning form into the dodecahedral challenge of Megaminx, navigating two rounds against 41 competitors to finish on top. Baron took gold with a 42.14 winning average and registered the fastest single solve of the event at 38.31 seconds. Yoav Vishne earned the silver medal with a steady 49.62 average, and Roy Tamir wrapped up the podium in third place with a mark of 52.08 seconds in a contest demanding deep spatial endurance.

Square-1 produced another dramatic final round among 42 entrants across three stages of competition. Netanel Pour took top honours by logging a decisive 9.15 winning average alongside the event's best single solve of 7.80 seconds. Ben Baron completed his medal sweep by taking second place with an average of 10.39 seconds, narrowly edging out Itamar Turm, who locked down third place with a 10.61 average on the turning puzzle.

Beyond the podium battles, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones across their events. Yotam Geiger, entering three disciplines at C.S.M. Israel 2024, made a first ever attempt at Clock with a mark of 9.86 seconds, while cutting his Square-1 personal best down to 20.06 seconds, which was 54.6 percent faster than his previous mark of 44.18, alongside a Megaminx personal best of 2:38.99. Shabtai Benyamin Yudelevith tackled three events, recording first ever attempts in Clock at 22.06 seconds, Square-1 at 1:26.55, and Megaminx at 3:04.38. Eliyahu Rozenfeld also took on all three categories, logging a first Clock try of 10.59, a Square-1 personal best of 47.28 that was 37 percent faster than his previous 1:15.09, and a Megaminx best of 1:51.73 that improved his former 2:18.52 by 19.3 percent.

The progress continued across the tournament roster as Luna Sarfati entered three events and registered an 11th place finish in Megaminx with a personal best of 1:07.34, an 11.8 percent drop from 1:16.37, paired with a first attempt at Clock in 10.03 and a Square-1 best of 16.93, which was 33.8 percent faster than her prior 25.58. Ron Borutsky took on three events, posting a first attempt in Clock of 20.51, a Square-1 personal best of 26.51 that improved on 46.47 by 43 percent, and a Megaminx best of 2:00.73, five percent faster than his earlier 2:07.12. Yuval Michaeli rounded out the notable achievements by taking on two events, posting a first Clock solve of 17.21 seconds and a first Megaminx result of 3:29.40.

The success of C.S.M. Israel 2024 highlighted the technical versatility required at a modern cubing competition. Gathering at the Atid youth village, solvers proved that speed cubing mastery extends across varied formats beyond the traditional cube. With official records rewritten and numerous personal milestones achieved, this WCA competition concluded as a celebrated milestone in the 2024 regional calendar, setting a strong foundation for future tournament seasons.
