Bence Barát and Hungary Stars Shine on Home Soil at Budapest Spring 2024English

The competition floor inside the Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem bustled with focus as 76 competitors gathered across two full days of high-stakes twisting and turning. On April 6 and 7, the venue in Budapest, Hungary transformed into an intense arena for speedcubing excellence. Station timers flashed continuously while judges leaned over tables, resetting scramble covers and recording times across 20 distinct rounds. Every corner of the hall carried the unmistakable rhythm of turning plastic, bringing together seasoned veterans and fresh faces in the heart of the capital for a memorable weekend of competition.

For the home crowd, Bence Barát provided the standout narrative of the weekend by mounting multiple trips to the top of the podium. Barát delivered a commanding showing across the big cubes and specialty events, capturing first place in the 6x6x6 Cube with a winning average of 1:45.74 and a single of 1:40.57, while also securing victory in the 7x7x7 Cube with an average of 2:32.89 and a single of 2:29.18. He added a third gold medal in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, taking the title with a 26.33 average and a best single of 25 moves.

The Hungarian contingent captured 19 podium places throughout the weekend, underscoring the strength of the host nation. Mihály Horváth claimed victory in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, piecing together memorisation and execution under the blindfold to win with an average of 43.63 and a best single of 35.68, edging out fellow countryman István Kocza who recorded a 43.18 average. In Square-1, Szabolcs Szántai delivered another Hungarian win, leading the field of 27 competitors with a winning average of 8.57 and a single of 7.59.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, Hungarian athletes routinely pushed deep into final brackets at this WCA competition. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Róbert Maróti took second place with a 31.61 average, joined on the podium by Gábor Slezák in third at 32.54. Kristóf Veres earned third place in 3x3x3 One-Handed with an 11.49 average, while Bence János Csuti took second in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with a 27.00 mark. András Orbán rounded out a podium spot in 2x2x2 Cube with a 1.73 average, demonstrating local depth across all 12 events.

Behind the headline battles, the weekend revealed massive personal milestones for numerous dedicated solvers. Villámgyors kirakások és hatalmas csaták a Budapest Spring 2024 tornánMagyar

A Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem falai között gyűltek össze a kockaforgatók, ahol a tavaszi idény egyik legpörgősebb megmérettetésének adott otthont a főváros. A versenyzők és kísérőik megtöltötték a termet, a kirakószőnyegek és az időmérő kijelzők előtt folyamatosan zajlott a felkészülés a hétvégi fordulókra. A 2024.

A leggyorsabb kategóriák azonnal magukra vonták a figyelmet, hiszen a klasszikus 3x3x3 Rubik-kocka és a kisméretű 2x2x2 Cube versenyszámokban rendkívüli tempót diktáltak a résztvevők. A legrangosabbnak számító 3x3x3 Cube kategóriában 72 induló vágott neki a háromfordulós küzdelemnek.

A két legdinamikusabb szám ezzel a hétvége legemlékezetesebb csatáit hozta a speedcubing rajongóinak.

Alexey Tsvetkov más kategóriákban is megállíthatatlan formát mutatott.

A 4x4x4 Cube versenyben Ianis Costin Chele nyert 28.98-as átlaggal, megelőzve Róbert Marótit és Gábor Slezákot.

Bertalan Kis a 4x4x4 Cube versenyben 59.03-as időre javította legjobbját a korábbi 1:48.59-ről, ami 45.6 százalékos fejlődés, míg 3x3x3-ban 12.23-ra javított. Dániel Kajin öt számban indult, most próbálta ki magát először a legkevesebb lépéses kirakásban 59 lépéssel, emellett 2x2x2-ben 6.80-ra javította egyéni legjobbját.

A kihívásokat keresők táborát erősítette Lola Pap is, aki most teljesítette élete első 3x3x3 One-Handed kísérletét 21.54 másodperccel, miközben 4x4x4-ben 43.35-re gyorsult. Zsolt Vincze hat kategóriában vett részt, 5x5x5 Cube-ban 2:25.46-ra javította legjobbját a korábbi 2:57.41-ről, és 4x4x4-ben is javított 1:20.62-es idővel. A tornán debütálók is remekül mutatkoztak be: Sebestyén Varga élete első WCA versenyén rögtön 12.72-es időt ért el 3x3x3 Cube-ban és 4.13-at 2x2x2-ben, míg Zalán Kolozsvári szintén újoncként 18.02-es eredménnyel mutatkozott be a klasszikus kockán és 4.25-tel a kiskockán.

A gondolkodási időt és speciális technikát igénylő számok szintén szoros eredményeket hoztak a Corvinus Egyetemen. A legkevesebb lépéses 3x3x3 Fewest Moves versenyben Bence Barát győzött 26.33-as átlaggal, megelőzve Bence János Csutit és Przemysław Rogalskit. A Square-1 küzdelmeit Szabolcs Szántai nyerte 8.57-es átlaggal, míg a 3x3x3 Blindfolded megmérettetésen Mihály Horváth állhatott a dobogó legfelső fokára 43.63-as átlaggal, megelőzve István Koczát és Bence Barátot.

A Budapest, Hungary helyszínen lebonyolított Budapest Spring 2024 rendezvény az érmek tekintetében is rendkívül gazdag volt, a magyar versenyzők összesen 19 dobogós helyezést gyűjtöttek be, míg Románia 8, Oroszország 5, Lengyelország 3, Belgium pedig 1 dobogós hellyel zárt. A kétnapos cubing competition kiváló hangulatban, számtalan egyéni csúccsal és emlékezetes gyorsasági párharccal zárult a 2024-es tavaszi szezonban.
