Shaun Mack Dominates Blizzard Blitz NY 2025 Across Four Major EventsEnglish

Sixty-nine competitors gathered on February 15, 2025, as Pittsford Community Church hosted Blizzard Blitz NY 2025. The single-day speedcubing tournament brought together local solvers and visiting talent in Pittsford, New York, USA, for a packed schedule spanning six events and ten total rounds. From the opening turns to the closing finals, the energy remained focused as participants pushed through high-pressure solves across various disciplines.

Shaun Mack delivered an exceptional hometown-style showcase by securing four individual titles. Mack set the tone early in the signature 3x3x3 Cube event, topping a field of 65 entrants across three intense rounds. In the final, Mack posted a winning average of 7.68 seconds and secured the round's best single solve of 6.40 seconds to claim the victory on home ground. Joey Saia followed closely in second place with a 7.88 average, while Dylan Chan took third with a 7.90 mark in a tight race for the podium.

The 3x3 results in the main event reflected the standard of play seen throughout the entire WCA competition. Beyond the standard Rubik's Cube, Mack proved just as dominant with only one hand on the puzzle. In the 3x3x3 One-Handed final, Mack captured the top spot with a 10.25 average and a 9.87 single. Dylan Chan took second place with a 14.40 average, and Lauren Phung finished third with an average of 16.05 seconds among thirty competitors.

Mack continued to collect hardware in the shorter formats, winning the 2x2x2 Cube with a rapid 2.28 average after two rounds of play, backed by a quick 1.42 best single. Evan Waters finished runner-up with a 2.74 average, while Joey Mait rounded out the podium at 2.82. Mack added a fourth gold in the dodecahedral Megaminx event, registering a 50.24 winning average and a 48.77 single to lead Dylan Chan and Lauren Phung across the finish line.

While Mack collected four titles, Dylan Chan mounted a formidable challenge by winning the remaining two events at Blizzard Blitz NY 2025. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Chan took the victory with a 31.89 average and a fast single of 28.07, holding off Mack's 33.26 average and third-place finisher Lê Thành Vinh from Vietnam, who logged a 37.45 average. Chan also claimed the Pyraminx title with a 2.76 winning average and a 2.34 single, besting Mack's 3.03 and Joey Saia's 3.46 in the two-round contest.

Beyond the championship finals, the heart of the cubing competition lived in the massive personal breakthroughs achieved by developing competitors. Milo Kittleson sliced a massive 66.5 percent off his previous benchmark in Megaminx to set a personal best of 2:51.11, while also improving in 3x3x3 One-Handed with a 15.78 mark.
