Divyaansh Khatri Leads Strong Field at BlithCube Open 2023English

Inside the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, the atmosphere carried the distinct focus of a high-stakes championship setting. Tables arranged across the hall held timers, display mats, and rows of puzzles awaiting inspection. With competitors gathering on February 18, 2023, the single-day schedule demanded instant concentration from the very first solves. The field brought together 76 participants to Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, each ready to push their limits across eight rounds of tournament play.

The 2023 edition placed heavy demands on speed and consistency across five official categories. In this fast-paced speedcubing environment, every qualification cut was tight, leaving no room for a careless turn. For those navigating multiple stages, the pressure built with each advancing round. Every participant stepped up knowing that a single slip on the timer could end their run in a premier WCA competition where margins are counted in hundredths of a second.

The marquee 3x3x3 Cube drew 75 competitors and delivered some of the tightest 3x3 results of the day across two rounds. Divyaansh Khatri emerged victorious in the final with a winning average of 10.04 seconds, complemented by a best single of 8.58 seconds. Moksh Patel took second place on the podium with an average of 10.36, closely followed by Harsh Chelani in third at 10.43. The tightly packed times at the top underlined how narrow the gap between gold and bronze truly was.

Harsh Chelani claimed a title of his own in the 2x2x2 Cube, topping a field of 69 competitors across two rounds with a winning average of 3.27 seconds and a blistering 1.86 single. Abhijeet Ghodgaonkar took second place with an average of 3.94, while Akshat Kulkarni earned third with 4.18. Chelani maintained steady pace through both rounds, proving that rapid execution on the smaller puzzle requires nerves just as steady as the classic Rubik's Cube.

In the 4x4x4 Cube, Abhijeet Ghodgaonkar captured first place with an impressive winning average of 42.97 seconds and a best single of 40.11 across the 28-competitor field. Manan Patel secured second place with an average of 44.14, while James Gonsalves took third with 45.54. The big cube tested stamina and spatial awareness, rewarding solvers who maintained turning fluidity without hesitations through the complex reduction stages.

The side events brought dynamic variety to the schedule. In Skewb, Moksh Patel seized the championship with a winning average of 3.14 seconds and a single of 2.97 against 37 entrants, finishing ahead of Aneesh Sawant in second at 5.81 and Soham Adarkar in third at 7.05. Sawant rebounded to dominate the Pyraminx, claiming gold with a 4.21 average and a 3.51 single among 63 competitors, while Kushal Jadav took second with 5.67 and Divyaansh Khatri secured third with 6.48.

BlithCube Open 2023:
