Mihir Narayan Dominates With Three Victories at Big N Blind Bangalore Jan 2025English

Mihir Narayan delivered a masterclass across big puzzles and strategy disciplines, sweeping three individual titles to take absolute control of the schedule. His dominant run anchored the single-day gathering in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, turning a compact roster of specialists into a showcase of individual versatility. Held on January 12, 2025, at the Janma Wellness Club, the event brought together 14 competitors who tackled 5 events across 7 rounds of intense competition. From blindfolded feats to multi-layered puzzles, the day highlighted the depth of speedcubing expertise present in the region.

In the 4x4x4 Cube, Narayan demonstrated smooth turn speed and exceptional pacing across two rounds of play. Facing a full field of 14 entrants, he captured the top step of the podium with a winning average of 29.09 seconds, having previously logged the fastest single solve of the event at 25.73 seconds. Navoneel Ghosh secured second place with an average of 44.45 seconds, while Krishanth Thangarathan took third position with a mark of 47.77 seconds. The contest served as a prime example of high-level speed cubing on larger twisty puzzles.

Narayan extended his winning ways into the 6x6x6 Cube, where 12 solvers contested a demanding single-round final. Managing the significant complexity of the six-layer puzzle, Narayan captured first place with an impressive winning average of 2:02.32, underpinned by the day best single solve of 1:49.42. Aadhiran Thangarathan earned the silver podium spot with an average of 2:33.33, while Vivek Prasad Mada took bronze with an average of 2:37.12. The result underlined Narayan command over big puzzle efficiency and overall pacing.

Strategic precision proved just as fruitful for Narayan in the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves contest, rounding out his trio of gold medals at Big N Blind Bangalore Jan 2025. Across three meticulous attempts, Narayan recorded a winning average of 35.33 moves to top a 13-competitor field, posting a best single effort of 30 moves. Raghavendra Nagarajan pushed him closely to finish runner-up with an average of 36.33 moves, while Vivek Prasad Mada secured another podium finish with a 37.00 average. The discipline rewarded calm planning and deep Rubik's Cube understanding under strict time limits.

The memory disciplines brought their own drama, led by Zain Behzaad in the two-round 3x3x3 Blindfolded event. Zain Behzaad seized the victory in the final with a winning single time of 40.45 seconds after posting an earlier single of 30.89 seconds in the preliminary round. Krishanth Thangarathan took second place on the podium with a successful single solve of 1:16.97, while Komahal Eswaran claimed third with a time of 2:52.84. Tracking these distinct 3x3 results without sight showed the intense focus required when execution relies entirely on pre-solve memorisation.

The most arduous test of memory at Big N Blind Bangalore Jan 2025 came in the 5x5x5 Blindfolded competition, where three solvers attempted to conquer the massive layer count without sight. Komahal Eswaran proved to be the sole competitor to log a successful result, claiming the gold medal with a single time of 21:52.00. Raghavendra Nagarajan and Vivek Prasad Mada were unable to record a completed solve, each finishing with a DNF result. Eswaran patience and memorisation endurance stood out as one of the definitive achievements of the entire day.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors made substantial strides across the schedule at this cubing competition. Brandon Leo John tackled four separate events, logging a personal best of 46.14 seconds in the 4x4x4 Cube that cut 7.8 percent off his prior 50.03 mark, alongside a sixth-place event finish and debut attempts in 6x6x6 Cube at 3:41.37 and Fewest Moves at 54. Aarav Shukla took on three disciplines and achieved a weekend-best sixth-place finish in 6x6x6 Cube. Kanishka Charvak entered four events, highlighting the run with a solid seventh-place result in 6x6x6 Cube.

With all 15 podium places earned by competitors representing India, Big N Blind Bangalore Jan 2025 closed as an emphatic celebration of specialised solving disciplines. Every entrant across the 14-person field found opportunities to test complex algorithms, long-form memorisation, and hardware control across seven packed rounds. As the 2025 season continues, this WCA competition provided an ideal testing ground for both seasoned champions and emerging talents striving for new milestones on the competitive stage.
