Wirahpati and Brem Dominate the Tables at Bern Cubing Festival 2026English

Ninety competitors converged on the Mattenhofsaal in Gümligen (BE), Switzerland, on March 8, 2026, delivering eight rounds of intense puzzle action across six events. The single-day schedule tested endurance and precision across multiple disciplines, from compact twisty puzzles to mechanical gear assemblies. In traditional speedcubing, managing rotation efficiency, fingertricks, and rapid lookahead dictates every podium finish. At Bern Cubing Festival 2026, those technical demands shaped intense battles on the stage as solvers chased split-second advantages across a bustling, full-capacity venue.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube competition headlined the program, featuring eighty-seven competitors across two packed rounds. Solving the classic Rubik's Cube demands relentless move efficiency, turning ergonomics, and seamless transition between puzzle steps. Benjamin Wirahpati of Indonesia rose above the field with clinical consistency, securing top honours in the final with a 7.70 winning average and the best single time of the event at 6.53. Switzerland's Daniel Brem followed in second place with an 8.32 average, while Levin Houghton completed the podium in third at 8.87. The official 3x3 results confirmed Wirahpati's complete control over the main event.

Wirahpati extended his mastery into the 4x4x4 Cube, an event requiring precise edge-pairing and center management alongside standard finishing stages. Facing fifty-five entrants, Wirahpati captured his second title of the day with a commanding 28.81 average and an event-leading single of 27.10. Daniel Brem earned another silver finish for Switzerland with a 33.48 average, narrowly keeping Levin Houghton in third place at 34.21. Wirahpati's double victory capped an outstanding campaign at the top of the multi-layered puzzle categories.

While Wirahpati ruled the larger cubes, Daniel Brem emerged as the dominant force in the short-format and side categories at Bern Cubing Festival 2026. In the 2x2x2 Cube, which featured seventy-eight participants, Brem claimed victory with a blistering 1.67 average and a 1.30 single. Swiss compatriots Flurin König and Levin Houghton joined him on the podium with averages of 2.46 and 2.54 respectively. Brem repeated his gold-medal form in Pyraminx, outpacing sixty-three competitors with a winning average of 2.68 and a 2.40 single, finishing ahead of Trygve Willis of the United States and Lucas Hart of Switzerland.

Brem completed a remarkable hat-trick of victories by capturing the Skewb title over fifty-six contenders across two rounds. Clocking an average of 2.43 with a 2.01 single, Brem stood atop the podium ahead of Austria's Jakob Fiechter, who recorded 3.31, and Lucas Hart, who took third with 3.67. In Clock, Matteo Dummar of Italy delivered a standout performance against fifty competitors, taking gold with a 4.51 average and a 4.21 single. Brem added yet another podium to his haul by claiming second at 4.92, while Hart rounded out third at 6.21.

Beyond the championship medals, the Mattenhofsaal saw massive personal milestones achieved across the full running order. Laura Jäger entered five events and recorded huge breakthroughs, posting a 3.87 personal best in the 2x2x2 Cube to drop her mark by 54 percent, slicing 44 percent off her Skewb best with a 10.48, making her first ever attempt at 4x4x4 Cube with 2:06.11, and finishing 48th in the main event.
