Pencil, Paper, and Rapid Solves Define Bengal Cube Open 2023English
In an event where speedcubing is usually measured by fractions of a second on digital timers, the quiet discipline of 3x3x3 Fewest Moves delivered one of the weekend's most distinct victories. Asia Konvittayayotin solved the puzzle in just 44 moves, outmaneuvering a field of 10 competitors through sheer analytical precision. The Thailand competitor sat over paper and scramble sheets to claim gold before returning to the blistering pace of the standard speed events across the three-day gathering.
Held from September 22 to September 24 at the Shree Shyam Mandir Ghusuridham Sabhagar in Howrah, West Bengal, India, Bengal Cube Open 2023 brought together 63 competitors across 17 events and 30 rounds of intense play. The full-slate WCA competition featured everything from standard 3x3x3 Cube rounds to the deep complexity of large puzzles and blindfolded solving, showcasing the full technical range of modern cubing.
Beyond the thoughtful pauses of the pen-and-paper challenge, Konvittayayotin dominated the main speed cubing schedule in Howrah.
