Leon Schmidtchen delivered a commanding performance at the Sportska dvorana STARČEVICA, locking up the top step of the podium with a 7.80 winning average in the main 3x3x3 Cube contest. Across three intense rounds of classic speedcubing, the German standout produced the best single time of 7.06 on his way to securing victory over 60 rivals. Banja Luka Cube Day 2023 brought together 62 competitors on September 16, 2023, turning Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina into a bustling hub of competitive solving across seven varied disciplines.

The stakes remained exceptionally high throughout the weekend as solvers fought for continental prestige and regional honors. In the premier 3x3x3 Cube championship division, Schmidtchen was pushed by Matej Marčok of Serbia, who earned second place with an 8.92 average, while local favorite Mihael Vidoš claimed third for Bosnia and Herzegovina with a 9.88 mark. The official 3x3 results served as the centerpiece of an energetic program that packed 10 competitive rounds into a single high-pressure Saturday.

Schmidtchen proved his versatility by securing another title in the 4x4x4 Cube, posting a decisive winning average of 34.41 and a top single of 28.26 to outpace a 36-person bracket. Finn Ickler took the silver medal for Germany with a 37.94 mark, while Serbian competitor Aleksandar D. Siljanoski locked down bronze in 40.75. Leon Schmidtchen also added a runner-up finish in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 16.52, confirming his mastery across complex puzzle formats during this high-profile WCA competition.

The one-handed category belonged to Matej Marčok, who captured gold with an impressive 12.92 average, highlighted by a single of 10.16 against a field of 33 entrants.
