Organizers Deliver an Action-Packed Weekend at Bangkok Cube Day Winter 2024English

A total of 173 competitors gathered across eleven rounds of intense tournament action at Central Bangna as Bangkok Cube Day Winter 2024 got underway. Managing a field of that scale requires tireless dedication from the event organizers, World Cube Association delegates, and staffing volunteers who ensured every round ran smoothly from January 13 to January 14. Their structured staging allowed the community in Bangkok, Thailand to witness high-caliber speedcubing across four distinct events in an energetic atmosphere.

The operational staff kept groups moving efficiently across the tables, providing a reliable platform for solvers competing in the classic Rubik's Cube alongside specialty events. Between managing scorecards, scrambling puzzles, and judging attempts, the organizational crew sustained a fast tempo throughout the schedule. Their behind-the-scenes precision set the foundation for exceptional 3x3 results as the premier division advanced through three demanding rounds.

In the 3x3x3 Cube event, Thada Phuenghua captured the victory by posting a winning average of 7.27 seconds in the final, complemented by a best single solve of 6.80 seconds. The competition was exceedingly tight at the top of the standings, as Parist Pariyakanok secured second place with an average of 7.33 seconds. Natthaphat Mahtani completed the podium in third position, registering a final average of 7.94 seconds to cap an exciting finale.

Beyond the main event, the coordination team managed three rounds each for two fast-paced rotational puzzles. In Pyraminx, Worapat Charoensuk took the championship title with an average of 4.12 seconds, edging out Natthaphat Mahtani who placed second at 4.13 seconds, while Parist Pariyakanok finished third at 4.19 seconds. The Skewb contest saw Thanapon Ponchai climb to the top of the podium with a winning mark of 4.00 seconds on average, followed once again by Natthaphat Mahtani in second at 4.11 seconds and Parist Pariyakanok in third at 5.24 seconds.

The tournament also featured two rounds of 3x3x3 Blindfolded, where solvers rely entirely on memorisation before executing their solutions without sight. Anawin Chaichana emerged as the victor in the event with a leading single time of 36.63 seconds. Korakot Inkaew earned second place by completing a successful solve in 49.90 seconds, while Tanai Chaikraveephand claimed third place with a time of 57.54 seconds to round out the event's top trio.

Away from the championship hardware, several competitors recorded major personal milestones during the weekend. Chayanon Pintavirooj entered three events and delivered a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 20.64 seconds, cutting 51.4 percent from a previous mark of 42.43 seconds, while also establishing a Pyraminx personal best of 10.63 seconds to improve by 22.7 percent. Pasutha Sujivorapanpong tackled two disciplines, logging a first ever attempt at Pyraminx in 12.25 seconds and dropping their 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 42.6 percent to 19.70 seconds. The successful execution of this WCA competition highlighted the strength of regional speed cubing, made possible by the delegates and local volunteers who gave their time to keep the timers running. As Bangkok Cube Day Winter 2024 concluded, the smooth running of the weekend demonstrated the vitality of the cubing competition community heading into the 2024 season.
